I have a craftsman style house with cedar shake in sections on the second floor exterior. Anybody ever use a hvlp to spray the stain? I have a cheap hvlp gun I could use...something has to be better than a pump can and back rolling it. I really need another set of hands but than won't happen either.

So does it make sense. It appears to be the same viscosity has auto paint but in a stain form...????????????

Thanks!

HVLP is always you're friend...3/4's hits and stays vs. the other where 75% bounces off.

If you're in a quandry..hook up a nice a 4" china bristle brush on the end of a Wooster pole...and give it a few back brushes to ensure good contact.

HVLP equates into perfecting air/material/spray pattern..very few have much luck with it because patience is a virtue..but it will pay off once you gain some confidence with it.

p.s.

Viscosity should be about one drip per second off the end of a stir stick..

always strain, no matter how thin it is, and you may have to change the tip and the needle depending on the model HVLP you have, and what type of CFM the turbine (or compressor) is cranking out

Did my whole deck with HVLP gun.. WAY faster and easier than anything else.. I have a pretty big deck.
