Paint your brake drums?

I'm fixing to do my rear brakes, and man those drums are cruddy and rusty. I will have them machined and wire wheel the crap out of em, but I was wondering if painting them with some high heat rattle can stuff would be a good idea. Will that hurt the heat dissapation properties in some way?
Or should I just wire wheel off the rust and call it good?

Painting the outside would be fine, not the inside though!

Yeah I was not planning on painting the inside! I just wanna keep it neat so's daddy rust comes not soon.

Mine have flaked off for the most part, really get down to clean metal before you spray them.

I'm going with some black high-temp engine paint. Oh yeah.

I painted mine black. They sell brake caliper/drum paint at checkers,autozone etc...it's held up well. I did this on my tacoma also, painted those red the calipers and drums. The mistake there was painting the drums red.

looks kinda neat through my black wheels.
and the yellow was FREE!!!

Rustoleum High Performance Flat Black Enamel.

I've used about four of the big rattlecans so far on various parts of my cruiser!.

X2 all above and the brake caliper paint;
If you know anyone with a sandblasting box, you could have them cleaned off real good
before painting.

I painted mine with Kryon. Quick shot with brake cleaner then paint. 2 years later they still look perfect. I didn't expect it to last either, but then I don't brake down too many long grades to burn off the paint. No salt either so even the cheap stuff works well. If I was really thinking at the time, I had a can of that black barbeque paint-that would have been perfect.
