Not 80 specific, but there's a heap of knowledge in here...

I'm thinking to apply, or have applied, a coating of some sort on a new car. What I want from it is to protect the paint from UV damage, and make it less likely that s*** can stick to it.

This whole area seems to have huge amounts of coverage and (mis)information across the likes of youtube.

Hoping for some informed comment about ceramic, graphene and other kinds of products that deliver on these requirements, and whether this is a realistic DIY job or leave to a professional.

Check out his other videos on coatings; I tend to agree with him (although I know nothing at all about the products); I can't see how you do this at home.
 
I've had very good results from ceramics, but I wouldn't use it on my LX. Why? Because the one myth people believe is that it's scratch proof. It's not. Not even close. It's SWIRL RESISTANT. Ramming it into twigs and rocks will take it right off, and it's much more difficult to restore than wax or sealant.
