I want to strip and repaint the metal cover for the Intrument Cluster. Its the same paint as the glove box and ash tray. Anyone know what color of paint that is?

Thanks

Don't know off hand, Ken, but CCOT sells stuff they say is it.

Thanks Dave. I'll check it out.

I posted all of this a while back but here ya go........................from 1969

I have had no luck finding the code. I had NAPA match it for me in AE. I can post the match code and you can get it made up local to you. Let me know if you want it I will need to dig it out.

its kinda hard to head but it's T-1434 insurment panel for fj40

Found it here:
http://store.yahoo.com/coolfj40/painsilpew.html

However, I don't need a half gallon for a cluster. I actually have two partial spare cluster's. If some one has some o this paint I could send you a blank cover and either trade parts
or pay cash. It's probably cheaper than $50.

Any one have any extra?

Now if I go into my local pain(t)store, which if I go to the closest town there is only one, will the counter guy give me that funny look and say something like "well you'll have to go to toyota for that cuz..." or should they be able to reference that in one of their magic books? I wasn't real impressed when I had them get me my mustard yellow stock paint but I didn't need an exact match. Is the original a single stage or a two stage(base color and clear)? Nice reference material Pimp- when my wife thinks I have it bad I just use you as a worst case scenario, appreciate the sacrifice you have made for the rest of us. ;)

I can get a can made up in single stage AE from NAPA for around $20. Much bettter than the crap JT sells

Thanks dave - Now that you had that made, is there a NAPA paint Code or "recipe" or do I give them the Toyota code

Paint Code For Intrument Cluster Panel, now x- ref #'s??

Need some help here?

I've been gleaning some info of this post. I need to get the paint for the fiberglass cap and the grey met. for interior parts.

Looking at what you posted Landpimp, Toyota lists:

T302 - Shell Ivory & T1434 Grey Met.

I went over to my local autoparts store, they carry PPG products. There telling me this is not a # he can use. He also called some Auto color library in Washington and they don't know what the hell he is talking about? Can anyone here x-ref these #'s over to something useable? I would love to go back to him with the info, showing him that with all the resourses he has, I got the correct info of a little chat room. :)

Thanks, Matt

Unfortunately, it does not appear that PPG/Ditzler have these codes
in their color libraries. They probably only have the body colors for
the early Toyotas. Go to:

http://autocolorlibrary.com/cgi-bin/search/searchpic.pl?1968-toyota-pg02.jpg

I have used the T-12 Cygnus White for my top and it seemed to be
the correct creamy white color. Others have given recipes for the
instrument panel/glove box door paint but it sure would be great to
find the PPG recipes for T302 - Shell Ivory & T1434 Grey Met. per
Pinhead's literature from the era.

John...

Again..You are the man!

buck...

Find someone that sells Dupont, or Sherwin Williams, or Martin Seniour. I was at a Napa looking through old paint code books, and have seen these odd ball trim colors listed...
I find it hard to believe that PPG's 'God paint library' can not find this, but I have heard stranger..

Most people give up looking if something is not easy...

It doesn't say cluster or glove box, but I wonder if this would work:
