Hey guys.

I searched around, but it doesn't look like a LC200 part number reference sticky thread has ever been discussed. I think we would get a lot of use out of it and it would keep the board tidy having all P/N inquiries in one spot.

Today I'm looking for two part numbers:
  • OEM skid plate bolts/bolt set
  • 3rd row seat rubber bump stop just below the pull-handles for folding the seat back down.
Thanks!

There are several good places to get part numbers from exploded diagrams online, though I'm only familiar with Toyota, not Lexus.

If you're suggesting a thread in the 200 section sticky threads at the top of the forum, good idea! Part numbers are a FAQ for sure, but might be best as its own sticky thread and not buried in the FAQ sticky thread. We'll see if @Romer is on board with the idea and is wiling to link some sites in a sticky. Also, maybe some other Mud sections already have a parts sticky?

Someone already thought of it here:

Thank you for your effort and thoughtful input, @sdnative.

However, if searching on Toyota’s site was ideal, I don’t believe we’d see as many p/n request threads and comments as we do. A search for “seat bump stop” yields 87 results - only 2 of which contain the term “bump stop”. It’s not efficient and it’s hard to guess what technical terms Toyota has adopted for certain parts.

Thanks again.

There is a huge variety of parts that people look for. Listing the PN for even the most common parts would drive a huge thread. And what about the off topic posts? Pretty soon it will grow to hundreds of pages and it wouldn't be any easier to use than just searching the main 200 section. And what to do about part number differences between the range of model years? What about superseded part numbers? Who will maintain this?

The parts diagrams can be hard to navigate sometimes, but Toyota / Lexus have done a pretty good job really. They are actually not that hard to use. I generally can find what I need pretty quickly and I am not the smartest person around. If in doubt I can search here and usually find what I need.

I think it is best to just use the existing parts databases, just my opinion.

Thanks, @sdnative.

I’m not sure that I agree that it wouldn’t be easier than searching the entire 200 tech forum, though.

If you’re in need of a part number, you could can navigate to this particular thread and limit your search scope to that thread only, filtering out any results that wouldn’t give you a part number, but rather and thread on, say, how the chrome finish sucks on the 2016+ wheel center cap but no mention of the center cap p/n.

Not looking to enter a pissing match on why it is or isn’t something that would be helpful - it’s just a thought I wanted to express. My world will still turn if the community decides it’s not a good idea. 😎

I never have an issue finding part numbers on the internet so don't know about the value here.

What part numbers to include and not?

Who would maintain it?

There are also the Repair manuals posted on line here that have part numbers

I will be slow to respond as I am out of the country right now

I know for a fact the skid plate bolt numbers have been posted multiple times, because I’ve done it.. as well as author a thread specifying which bolt goes where with a color coded reference.

Well then, it must just be me.

Try finding the working OEM wheel cap part number for my 2017 non-Heritage, OEM Land Cruiser wheels.

Then tell me how long it took you and where you found it.

It took me over 30 minutes and I sure didn't find it on this site.

I tried doing multiple searches on this site, varying the words I was using to search, to try and find a part number.

I then even searched this site with the correct part number, and variations of the part number I found on other sites: ZERO results.

I found the part number someplace else, not here.

It is a legit searchable, orderable part number on an official Toyota dealers website.

I had no luck searching on the oem dealers site using "center cap" or "wheel center cap" or any variati I n - it gives 20+ pages of results with 500 some parts that are unrelated to wheels.

The arcane Toyota phrasing is “ornament sub-assy, wheel hub”

And to help anyone else searching the forum the part number is 4260B-60370

The source I use for parts lookup isn’t open to the public.

Agreed with @Romer it's not so simple.

The 200-series also spans a good few model years and trims, and part numbers need to be qualified for application.

I would say for more obscure things, it's useful to create a thread on the forum. As some of us have access to databases not open to the public. But also for posterity for the next guy.

Lol, you are a genius.

Yes, that's the number. I was going to post it if someone didn't, of course.

I am sure you are correct in the phrasing. I have been a Sequoia and Land Cruiser owner of 3 different models for the last 20 years, and I STILL struggle with Toyotas terminology!!! Arrrgh!!!!

On Conicelli Toyotas website it said:

Wheel Cap - Toyota (4260B-60370)

Thank you for being kind.

And thank you for validating that, for once at least, it wasn't just me.

And also I agree with you that it's not so simple for a spreadsheet. I did not to mean to imply that someone should start and maintain one, only thay you Can not "just look it up" on a dealers website, or even in a repair manual (I also own a 2 vol print version for my old Sequoia). The numbers aren't always clear in the drawings, or even if they are the correct ones for different options. The numbers also get superseded, etc.

However, if there was just a GENERAL sheet, or place, or thread, we could just "throw it up on", it would be better than what we have now - NOTHING!

And I still want to see someone find that part number without using an inside site, or now knowing the exact terminology we all just listed. Ebay was the only place I could find any help. What if there weren't any for sale?!?! And even on Ebay, the part numbers were flat out wrong, or partial, or wrong partial combinations.

You can “just look up” 99%+ of the parts on our vehicles so what they said is correct for the vast majority of requests. And just to blow holes in the concept that Toyota’s documentation processes are absolutely complete, find me the torque value in the FSM for the tow/recovery/tie-down hooks on our 200.

Point is, nothing is absolute, and anyone that expects absolutes on something this complex isn’t connected to reality.

I try to spread the immense value I get from my access to a parts system by answering requests posted on the board. At a surface level I understand the efficiency and utility of a thread that has it all in one place, but from a practical standpoint my experience doing this and many, many years posting on forums leads me to believe it would end up being a s*** show. Inaccurate info that needs to be corrected, not enough specificity, mid-year changes, expectations placed on the parts purchaser to verify accuracy before spending money.

And trust me, I’m usually one of the first that believes people should search before posting and further clogging up the boards. This is one place where the system we have and us helping each other out in near real time is probably better.. in my opinion.

No, you cant. Enough other people on here feel the same way too. Maybe for someone that deals with LCs or Toyotas all the time. I have owned my LC 3 years and Sequoias for 20. I work on it. But I never get the wording right for parts after all this time, and I never will. So, instead of looking something up ones self, one is supposed to bother someone on the board, then sit around and wait for an answer. I feel so privileged at having access to this immense value rather than a thread to search.

Makes sense.

Oil filter p/n 2017 LC?
