Got a '93 fzj80 and it's started playing up (again).
It lopes terribly at idle and the throttle does nothing unless you put your foot all the way into it.
This all started when I was washing it the other night, (not under the bonnet but under the wheel arches).
It's not throwing any fault codes, but when I unplug the O2 sensor, it runs fine (rich but drivable).
The O2 sensor is only 2 months old, and I have removed the 4 pin plug for it to make sure it doesn't have any water in it, making the wires short on each other, but this has made no difference.
I switched over to a spare ECU but it ran the same.
Im thinking about getting a new O2 sensor again...
If anyone one has any ideas to throw at me, it would be much appreciated.

There is a resistance check for the 02s.

It sure sounds like you have a wiring harness issue. I would carefully inspect the wiring from the sensor to the ECU for chaffing. If you can't find any obvious worn spots, get a spray bottle and fill it with water. Start at the sensor and wet down the wire harness working your way up towards the ECU. Hopefully, you will find a spot that causes the problem when it gets wet. I really think the water is the key, and your O2 sensor is fine.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I'll check it out when I have a bit of spare time and let you know how I went. Cheers.

Here's a thought that others may be able to chime in on. This may clear itself up soon, the o2 senser is open to atmosphere ( compares this to what is in the exhaust)so you may have flooded the sensor. I would think the heat would clear this up soon or. I don't know if you can take it out and carefully blow it off.
Then again rain gets in there too.

Okay, I think I sorted the problem out. I unplugged the earth as in the wiring diagram, it isn't meant to be connected, I think...
Anyway, I runs really well at the moment and it's not throwing any codes (until tomorrow anyway).
The *3 means for European model only I guess.
I don't know, I still don't get it, but I'm happy.
Thanks for the advice fellas. :)

After checking all of the wiring :/and testing all of the sensors, turns out that the oxy sensor had a bad earth (5 minute fix)... Running perfectly now. :)

Thanks again for the advise fellas.
