My 1977 FJ45. Originally belonged to my older brother (second owner in the early eighties) and was used extensively 4 wheeling in Alberta and as a work truck. He handed it over to me when he required something bigger, and I brought it to Ontario, where unfortunately the salt has taken its toll.
I plan to start a restoration this winter (already have my new tailgate and sill from AwlTEQ - thanks Kevin!).
Here is a picture from its glory days in the 80's out in the Ghost River Wilderness Area in Alberta (complete with dazzle blue bezel and homemade redneck camper).

Picked up this beauty a couple weeks ago. Working on freeing the seized motor. Flipped the bezel first!!

Had the same diamond plate bumper on the back of my red longbed 45 when I got it. Way popular back in the day.

Tim,

If it looks like an original F135 under the hood, I recommend NOT trying to start the motor without taking a look inside the timing cover. The fiber cam gear could be an issue, and if not, could instantly become one. I lost 4 teeth on my first F135 25 years ago. Dumb luck that mine happened during startup, so I didn't damage anything else.

Hey Mark. Yeah, not having any luck with soaking the cylinders in different concoctions to get it to turn. It even has an inline water pump heater that I've left plugged in for a day at a time (don't trust it to leave plugged in over night) with no luck. It gets the block pretty warm though! Looks like it's time for some exploratory surgery.

Not sure I want to keep the rear bumper or not.

Hi, I wanted to post a quick introduction. My name is Dan and I am happily back in the driver's seat of a land cruiser! I sold my last one, a 1978 FJ55 over 20 years ago and just recently picked up this awesome FJ45 from a neighbor who lives just a few streets over from me.

I'm relearning and remembering alot of the land cruiser trivia and knowledge that made me freak out on these so long ago.
I've also got alot of learning to do on this cruiser. It had been fairly modified/restored by the previous-previous owner and the fellow I bought it from did not many details.

It's got a Chevy 383 stroker and th400 trans, 4 wheel disc brakes, and power steering.
The person who built it kinda went the hot rod approach on it. It is a blast to drive and has surprisingly good road manners! There are things to do to it but overall it's a good runner and driver.
Thanks all, looking forward to learning more about these trucks.

A couple more pics. Also, forgot to mention, it's a 1967 FJ45, yet it has a later model windshield. According to the VIN page on sor it was built around June of 1966.
