Overland LX570 Gets a Winch

Reasonable question and outside of incrementally more cost and weight, should drop in similarly.

For myself, I've strived to really watch weight and balance, as I need to keep as much payload as possible for the trailer. Not too much and not too little. Hoping to make it just right across use cases.
One thing I couldn’t find was an exact weight spec of the two from warn. I’m actually looking at evo”s” with the synthetic line.

My rig will be heavier than yours (I presume, bumpers/ tent etc), also will be towing a 1500lb trailer in potential winching situations. So I’m leaning toward the evos 12. Just for the extra capacity. I’m aware warn underrates their winch and a 10k will probably do anything I could ever need, espocally with a snatch block.

Have you weighed your 570 in overlander mode not towing?
 
I run a 12k Warn VR Evo. Keep in mind the rating is based on the last wrap (somebody is going to correct me on the details here) so any time you have more line spooled (which is nearly every time I've pulled line), you are getting less.

Side note: I cut my line down to 60' on the recommendation of experienced offroaders in my area. We don't see a lot of long pulls, and I have a winch extension if I need to extend the length. You can use products like the safe extract x-lock to reduce the line length too...

Warn doesn't make it easy to find actual weight specs. From what I gather, the EVO 12k unit is probably 5-10lbs of the 10k unit.

I've only weighed my rig when loaded out towing and she's about 15k. It's not loaded out the same, but I can tell my rig is ~6500lbs from the individual axle weights. Add the RTT and overlanding gear, I'd guess I'm at ~7500lbs when fully laden in non-towing overlanding mode. That's fun in sand :). Really need floatation sized tires and aggressive airing down to handle the steepest of dunes which is why I'm a proponent of big and wide tires for our heavy pigs.

Out here in the southwest, I've somewhat questioned the utility of having a winch at all as there's minimal anchors to winch from. Other rigs is probably the best bet. Thought about chopping my line too, but I figured more line gives me more reach options to anchor. Then paired with a snatch rope for options beyond that. Maybe situationally dependent whether more power or more reach is needed.
