Ok just need some opinions was driving the beast last week pushing her hard enough EGT's were fine but factory dash temp gauge was on the rise anything I should be concerned with or just keep my eye on the EGT's???

The factory gauge is good enough reference... If it stays about the same always everything is good, if it goes way up then you might be running hot...

If coolant level is OK I would check thermostat. If temps creep up at low speed but OK at higher speeds, check viscous fan coupling fluid.

I thought Toyota thermostats fail open... If that's the case would one see an issue with longer warm ups and not running hot?

I thought Toyota thermostats fail open...

How could that be?

Don't all thermostats open due to the expansion of wax in some sort of bellows? (So if the wax were to escape wouldn't one fail in the closed position?)

(I'm not saying they CAN'T fail in the open position .... but I'm just not aware of any thermostat being unable to fail in the closed position.)

I thought they tended to fail closed because some of them have a tiny hole so some pressure can escape. I had one that failed partially closed or partially open ,which ever you prefer.
I guess it depends on the type of t/stat .

As to the OP problem. 1st thing see if you are getting pressure in the system by feeling the hoses when hot. The t/stat takes about 5-6 minutes to open ,you can ascertain that by feeling the hoses on the outlet. When they go warm you know it has opened.
If you have good pressure ,no leaks ,t/stat opening etc, then its time to look at the fan clutch. It should have resistance so that when you spin it by hand it will stop when you hand is removed.
If thats ok I would look at getting the radiator cleaned by removing the top and bottom tank and having the cores rodded so you can see one end to the other.

In the last 12 months I have replaced the radiator, water pump, thermostat & viscous fan so everything should be working as usual and coolant level is fine. Temp didn't go I've the dial just went up where mine usually never moves off dead center

If the temperature gauge AND fuel gauge suddenly go both up then it's a fault in the dash cluster, nothing wrong with temps in that case...

Carry a laser heat gun in the glovebox and regularly check your temps, such a simple tool that'll save your 60
