whenever yall get in yur rig when its cooler-cold out....if you turn the teering wheel while its warming up, does it make that sound? -sean
 
wouldnt let me edit...."stearing wheel"
 
only when its low on fluid.
i descride it as the "wookie from Star Warts" sound

Yes....I always tell people with me that she is complaining about being woke up so early in the morning. LOL
 
My last power steering pump would growl unless it was overfilled, according to the dipstick. Try running your fluid level higher and see if the noise goes away.

VatoZone has power steering fluid additive to help quiet the pump. IT WORKS!
 
Mine had it real bad and I had a couple of mechanics look at it the first year I owned the 60, and considered the AU$1000 cost of replacement. Eventually I decided to loosen the pump belt, that wasn't particularly tight, incase the pump siezed as it sounded pretty crook and I was off wheeling for the weekend...

.. and its all good now, hardly ever hear it now :) Doesn't lose any fluid any more which I suspect let air in also and caused the moaning.

I suspect the belt was ok tension but the pump likes to be handled a little gentler in its old age :)

Worth a shot anyway.. worked for me.
