Yep....the rear diff was DRY! I noticed some slight roaring in the 40's rear.
Not bad mind you and it does have the ol noisy locker.
So today I decide to check the rear end dope. Yikes! Dry as a bone.
Guess I should check more frequently than once every 10 years or so.
Seems no harm no foul however. Now it is back to no roar...just a clankie
popping locker.
Tomorrow the tranny/tranfer gets it's 10 year checkup...just to be safe.
:grinpimp:

i opened this thread thinking it was a different kind of dope

Stuff some bananas in there. When they get hot breath the smoke.

You know as you get older you really need to get your rear end checked more often..

wait! What?

I've had that happen a few times in college. Never again. Learned my lesson the hard way and will never be out of the stuff for the rest of my life. I usually have it stashed in glass mason jars in the garage.

What a waste of a good mason jar. Like the Stones say " Sitting in a bar sippin' inna jar in Jackson."
"And o' that grievous sun it sure does shine." Fiddle playing in the background. Let it bleed...baby!
One day we's gonna open a mason jar here at the Cabin. That or pull a cork. :hillbilly:

Side note. The tranny in Miss B takes 30wt but to check the level or add oil ya gotta pull the radio.
BTDT too. :)
