I am just back from a line haul, Reno>Boise>Reno, to bring back our new camping mode. After a lot of deliberation over various tent trailers, expo trailers, feather lites, hybrids, eggs, vintage over the last year, I came to the conclusion that the Jumping Jack (no affiliation) would be our first best step for trailering and camping. It is after all named after our one year old son
I will provide more detail after some real world use, but here are some initial notes. This 2010 rig and accessories retail at $6100 with tax, I think I got a great deal at $3600. Used only a few times, I even need to still air out the VOCs for a few days.
The trailer is HD, with a nice 3500# torsion axle. Tows very easy behind the hundy, tracks very well, no jumping at all. I got ~14.5 MPG on the return trip. Looks to me like a very good build quality.
The reason this rig appeals to us is that we also have a need for a utility trailer in addition to a camp base, and we also dont have any need for a lot of the common denominators of the other types of trailers that I listed: cabinetry, ovens, banos, AC.
Heres some s***ty phone pics:
