I am just back from a line haul, Reno>Boise>Reno, to bring back our new camping mode. After a lot of deliberation over various tent trailers, expo trailers, feather lites, hybrids, eggs, vintage over the last year, I came to the conclusion that the Jumping Jack (no affiliation) would be our first best step for trailering and camping. It is after all named after our one year old son ;)

I will provide more detail after some real world use, but here are some initial notes. This 2010 rig and accessories retail at $6100 with tax, I think I got a great deal at $3600. Used only a few times, I even need to still air out the VOCs for a few days.

The trailer is HD, with a nice 3500# torsion axle. Tows very easy behind the hundy, tracks very well, no jumping at all. I got ~14.5 MPG on the return trip. Looks to me like a very good build quality.

The reason this rig appeals to us is that we also have a need for a utility trailer in addition to a camp base, and we also dont have any need for a lot of the common denominators of the other types of trailers that I listed: cabinetry, ovens, banos, AC.

Heres some s***ty phone pics:

Sweet, we totally love our JJ. Extremely heavy duty and well built. We were in a starcraft tent trailer first. It was junk. This is a total step up in quality!

Those JJ's are da chit...the tent section looks top notch, as is the fact you can carry 4 wheelers on top..

Good Luck with it.

Eli, I am glad to hear that comment (step up in quality from other tent trailers) from a forum member, I've heard that from another person too. The steel "beds" are obviously built way over the duty of regular tt's.

Titan, the tent does indeed look top notch. maybe not as tech as some of the other rtts etc, but the frame is relatively tech and pretty HD (not quite ROAM HD), and the canvas should hold up well in NV if I do my part.

I will eventually modify the trailer for propane and electrical (with battery system), but for now we just want to get outside with it this season ;)

Sounds like you have the same plans for yours as we do for ours. We're taking it down to Glen Canyon/Lake Powell for 4 nights next weekend. We did Moab earlier in June and towed the 2 quads on top, such a slick set up. As you mention, the tent and tent frame are very nice. Where just slight wind was annoying in the 'other' pop-up, the JJ wouldn't even move.
