Well we let our Troopy go and are now in a well built 80. We loved the Troopy, but here in the US we wanted something with more “luxury” like A/C, heat, real seatbelts for the kiddos and power steering... Anyway the 80 is already well built, so this is less of a build and more of a make our own with various mods.

Current mods by PO:
-ARB front bumper
-4x4 labs rear bumper w/dual swing outs
-5 speed H55 conversion w/4:1 gear ratio
-Full floater rear w/disk brake conversion out of a ??
-Sitting on KM2 37’s
-Original 3fe
-Lunch box locker front and rear
-Rear air bags
-Warn winch
-Prinsu roof rack
-ARB snorkel
-Homemade drawers
-Manual locking hub conversion
More to add coming as I figure it all out...

Mods by Me:
-Tandem Off Road 17x8.5 rims w/KM3 37x12.5x17 (spacers removed)

Possible Future Mods/Resources:
-LS Swap
-Bell housing adapter for LS to H55f transmission: LS series V8 - LandCruiser F series petrol engine
-Jack Nuts for possibly various paneling ideas: Pop Avdel Jack Nut, Stl, 6-32, 0.663 L, PK25 310000/667 | Zoro.com

loos great, enjoy it

That doesn't sound right...possible it's from a later-model 80?
I’ll confirm from him. Thought that’s what he said.

First mod other than remove the PO’s window stickers. I put our Jade Jaguar shifter we had made in Honduras.

We went to Jambo and had a lot of fun. It was way to muddy, but good times were had anyway. The 80 is beyond capable and super impressive. I did realize I need some differential armor though as I beat it on a rock going up a section where you see my rear wheel stuffed.

The brake booster went out while we were there, but I found a aftermarket one. I plan to get an OEM one and keep this as a backup.

The tires on StarLord are great thread, but they are 10yrs old and showing their age. I don’t wanna drive to Colorado in August on old tires. I also want some new rims while I’m at it and I’d like to take of the spacers that are on it. Right now I’m voting the 3rd rim and they boast they have ridges that keep the tire on while deflated for wheeling. I also prefer the simplicity.

I like the 3rd ones

How’s the 3fe doing with the 37’s out of curiosity I’m sure the manual swap and regear helped
Oh it’s fine. It’s not much faster than my old 1HZ non turbo until I get out of 3rd and then it gets up there. The manual makes the world of difference. Someday I’d like to re-gear the axles and put in air lockers. Maybe even an engine swap for more power. However for now it works well so no need in changing it.

@The Jade Bean Pmd , ya see ya soon, can’t wait for some good coffee! More then likely your axle is out of 93 up 80series pretty common swap. It is possible it’s from. a 60 , I’ve worked a few import 60s from Japan that had disc brake full float with cable lockers. There is nothing dangerous about swapping a axle

Take it from someone who’s owned a lot of “jewelry” wheels (and I loved them), go with #3. They all look great but when it comes time to clean them, yeah 3 all the way.

It’s a swap to full float with disks. AWESOME setup!!

If breaking the bead is a concern then why not just get the real beadlock version of the wheels from Method? They look the same, but the beadlock is actually functional. I'm partial to those since I have them on my truck,

The gold centers always look super sharp imo. They just didn't fit my color scheme. Sorry I don't have my phone with me for a better close up pic.

I wanted those, but just not in the budget at $444 a piece.

So FN wheels wouldn’t clear the hubs. I went with Tandem wheels. This brought the wheels way further in. A tad flashy, but I like them.
