Don't forget all the smog equipment for 1959. That car and I were born the same year and I have smog equipment.

Jesse, is it a 350? And what kind of tranny are you gonna use? How much was the motor? I need to start figuring the conversion Aric's gonna do on mine. Oh no, .....wait, that was just a tune-up he was doing. Damn!

It's a 327 and I'm just using a th350 at the moment. Gonna switch to a 700r4 eventually.

The proof is in the pudding! A month late but I still got it moving.
There is a lull in the middle of the video because the kids built a jump in the driveway and I had to wait for them to move it. :steer:

Sounds good! No reverse?? :frown:

Congrats bro!!! But hey I gotta be honest and say you look WAY to FN tall in that thing!!

I was sitting on a spare tire, I took the bench out to weld in the floor panel and haven't put it back in yet. It will be much lower, I can't get my gangsta lean on when I sit that tall! :flipoff2:

Another week off, Mandy in LA, kids in school, so the 59 is on the front burner again. I've made quite a bit of progress here and there. The entire rear of the car is completely wired and the engine bay has been finished off as well.
I was going to do a bunch of odds and ends on it this week (giant stereo, gauges and functioning lake pipes with flamethrowers hooked up) but then I realized that most of those hinged on getting the floor pans done.
In order to keep me focused on only the pans....I cut out all 3 of them at once today. I got a long week of trimming and welding ahead of me! :wrench: Tetanus anyone?

Passenger front floor: not as bad as I expected after I removed the screwed in "patch flooring" done by the PO. That's the old temporary cherry bomb exhaust under there.

Both rear floors were pretty bad, not to mention the random brace under there kinda messed up my perfect square cut I was going for.

54 year old nasty metal! The galvanized metal leaning there is what the PO had screwed in place to cover the swiss cheese floors.

Got the last one finished up last night. I need to paint everything in some sort of rust killer, suggestions? No more Flintstones floors!

Better hurry so you can make all the summer parades and such! ;)

I started screwing around with the stereo for the 59 although I had a million things going on this last couple days. Mother-in-law gave me an old chest that is military-esqe. Thought I could put it to good use and just mount it in the back to hide some stereo junk. I don't care to make this car overly nice, I just want it to be somewhere between rat rod, retro and fun. Here's the initial idea, kinda wish there was some way of mounting those 12's so they aren't so hideous. Might just cover them up with a traditional Mexican blanket or something....

Started cutting into it and the top and bottom are a heavy cardboard with the thinnest metal you've ever seen covering it. The walls are maybe 1/8" thick.

So I had to reinforce every part of it that held any weight or that I wanted to mount something on. First was the 6x9 holes...

Eventually reinforced half the box. Here's a layout of how its going to be. Need to get a much bigger 4 channel amp too. That one is ancient back from my high school days.

 i love the concept... but would have put the 12s in the old chest and hide the rest in ammo cans or some place.
