A few updates, hacked the crap out of the springs in the car. It sits low...toooo low? Not possible.
Also I finally found the correct 59 wagon front seat for it and just got it back from being upholstered last night. The rest of the interior looks like crap but at least the front seat is comfortable and nice! Its not bolted down in the picture. For the record I used a guy right around the corner from me on E Jackson. Has a sign out front that says "Harm's Upholstery". Nice guy, works out of his house, he's quick and does good work. Reasonable prices too and gives a discount for cash. This is the second time I've used him. This seat was down to just metal when I brought it to him last Wednesday. He got it back to me in less than a week, its black vinyl on the sides and then a grey, durable, FJ Cruiser type of fabric for the center, he charged $500 but you should've seen the original seat, it was super ugly. Gonna try and get the stainless all polished and reattached before the Medford Cruise.
Last summer the engine developed a rather serious knock, and along with crumbling starter bolt holes I decided I needed a new engine. I ripped the 350 outta my pig and took it down for a rebuild at Keller machine. This is the old 327 engine if anyone needs a core.
New engine is in which was bored 0.080 producing 300+ hp, it's finally back on the road and running well for once. While the engine was out I decided to rebuild the entire front suspension and steering joints since the dang thing never went down the road straight. Got an alignment by Nelson's Alignment on riverside and he did great. Also used a little gloss black in the engine bay instead of the flat black that was already there. Also sorted out my fuel delivery issue which was due to a 3/8" hose going to a 5/16" hardline, the hose couldn't be clamped down tight enough and was sucking air instead of fuel. Drove me nuts for months!
I was gonna put my eBay carpet in and then realized how much I hated the old cracked and nasty dash pad which was an "upgrade" for my model and I didn't wanna make a mess on the new carpet... I knew the dash was clean metal underneath. So I grinded and scraped...
And then painted and polished... Also notice my horse shoe gas pedal that I finally got around to doing. Carpet install tomorrow.
Got the carpet in!
Started with the back half which went in super easy after a few relief cuts.
Then the front and seat went back in easy peasy. Only took a couple hours and it looks a heck of a lot better and is much quieter to drive. Just need door panels and a headliner now. The doors are nasty and its like $950 to mailorder the door panels. I have a friend who may be able to hook me up with an upholstery guy though.
Also forgot to mention last summer before the cruise I polished all of the side trim and put it all on. Also put on the functioning lake pipe exhaust down the side.
Found that Magnaflow made a muffler that goes in and out on the same end. Worked perfectly after I welded it all up. Its loud but not too loud and the exhaust doesn't come in the back window anymore.
