Just discovered a broken leaf on the rear of my 62, it's the Ome heavy spring pack and it is pretty old. My question for all of you is how to go about fixing it. I could open it up and replace the one broken leaf(hopefully not finding any more broken once open) but would leave me concerned about reliability of remaining springs.

I could replace the entire pack, probably have to replace both sides and that is a little pricey but would feel reliable.

Maybe it is finally time to go spring over but that's a lot of work and the front seems fine the way it is

Thoughts ??
Thanks

Well, IF you were to SOA, I have a 62 front housing that you could C&T ahead of time if'n you wanted to save some time....
However, going SOA will be pricier than replacing 2 springs, for sure.
My vote is to replace the packs.

As much as I love my SOA setup! I would just replace the Broken spring. Take the othe packs apart and check them for cracks, pits, or other damage.

There is a company around Winchester that can make springs. Burl used them to fix his and they said that can make them also.

I guess spring over was never really considered, just the thought of spending money on suspension again made me think about it. I did put the 35s back on so don't need the room. The price Ryan put up is for the entire pack not just an individual spring so not so bad.
Can anyone give me an opinion on how the hell you break one of those. It's right in the middle of the stack and it's broke completely in half??

Not sure of the differences between old and new OME springs but I have a couple (2 each) of the shorter leaves from rear 60 Dakar springs. Your welcome to them if you can use them....

My guess would be a material defect in that particular leaf.

I think you break one of those by wheeling like a bad-ass motherf@#*er.

Wheeling like a bad ass motherf@#*er!!
Like only Felix can do!!!

My memory isn't as good as it used to be but last time my truck was off road I think YOU where the driver ???

Then we understand one another.

I was going to object with the argument that I only drove it on the green trails on the way out, but that's actually where I do most of my breaking of stuff. Including, but not limited to, the tie rod the day before. :hillbilly:

A newbie here. Got an 93 FZJ80 a few months ago and slowly working down my list of things to do. Looking to replace the leather on the sears b/c its shot. Sounds like LSeat might be the way to go but they don't have anything that matches the original blue/grey color. Any thoughts on who might? Also, looking for a decent upholstery place to do the work in the Fairfax area. Appreciate any suggestions.
