Man its posts like this are the reason I refused to purchase a home in an HOA! @matzell hit the nail on the head... MOVE lol. Although I realize that may not be a viable option. I would for sure allow you to park it on my property but southern MD may be a bit out of the way for you and some other generous club members have already offered theirs.

@Jakes40 brings up a good point about finding where all the service trucks get parked. My biggest fear would be someone messing with it or theft (NM i saw the response to this)

Friend stored his car trailer at this place just off the Springfield mixing bowl:

IIRC it was $80 or so for an 18' flatbed. Turkish operators last time I was there, like most of the businesses in that industrial park.

yea, my neighborhood prohibits this type of stuff too, unless it fits in a garage. one guy keeps his dual jetski trailer in his garage. but has his RV trailer out on the street quite often and somehow isn't penalized...good for him. it does keep the neighborhood looking nicer and keeps me from turning my side and back yard into a Sanford & Son salvage yard :D

the Fairfax law seems to exempt your type of trailer
  • Trailer or semitrailer except camper, boat or single axle utility trailer (utility trailer defined as a small non-motorized trailer generally pulled by a motorized vehicle and features an open-top rear cargo area).
Town of Vienna (if you live in the town) might have more aggressive laws. but somewhere near you i'm certain you can find street parking, with all the other vans, box trucks, and boat trailers. you'd have to visit it frequently to make sure no one messes w/ it...which might be more of a headache than you care for. cover it w/ a big tarp to keep leaves and prying eyes off your stuff. there are definitely streets in Chantilly and Sterling that are LINED with boats and box trucks...just outside of neighborhoods. The Reston Association has a secured lot for storage of boats and RV's....for a price...and they do have non-member prices.

Was over at my units all day reorganizing after holiday madness/mess...heard that they do vehicle storage too on the PSA between songs. I just hit Vienna, but maybe something closer to you?

So... the update. I had a hearing with the board. I tried to be reasonable with them. I was trying to explore potential mutually satisfying solutions... and they essentially told me to pound sand. So, I have a friend in Reston who can store the trailer in his driveway for a month. In that time, I will need to get it registered and tagged, and then I have to find more options. I am exploring everything.

I am bringing some legal action against the HOA Board to help them see reasonable solutions, but its a low likelihood of success without significant expense.

le sigh

If you don’t find a closer solution we could discuss parking it at my farm west of Winchester if you’re interested
