Just looking for some outside thoughts on linex colors. I would like to go white on top of the cab and hood as well as around but the ms's is thinking black or dark grey. Now my reasoning for the white in because I believe it would keep the car cooler, so at least we both agree to go white on top(like an FJ) but can't agree about the bottom color. SO we turn to the mud guys, who she claims, will be on her side. Don't let me down now fellas!:D

my 0.02

I think the gray looks fairly decent, like a nice two tone deal.:hhmm:

I have to vote on matching grey on the sides to go monochromatic with a white top ala 40 series, the true original not the FJ. :flipoff2: I think it looks too busy with the white sides, it goes from white, to grey to white to black. Just me. :D

I don't have first hand experience but I would look into the possibility of yellowing or color change with the white. Might be best to do the roof with paint and the sides with line-x. Just a thought.

Yea I guess I would agree it is a little much with the white.
The reason for linex on top and not just paint is to protect the roof when I through things up there. Already have some gouges from putting the mountain bike up there.
So you think the white with grey sides is not much? That would make it go white, blue, grey then black.

The top picture has to go - white on the side and the top? Looks like .

You cant go wrong with black on the sides. And if I was going to line the top, I would go conservative and make sure its not too visible from the side.

 But that would be a moot point if you have lifts - the top of the vehicle doesnt get the eye when looking at a lifted modded vehicle. But the way you photochopped it with the white - nah. Ill just leave the top alone or forget lining the sides and just have the white on top. Just my opinion of course.

Gray would be a change since most has lined the sides black.

What about the white on the roof and the hood?

I cant see the white meshing with your current color on the 80. Having the 3 colors make the rig look unfinish or something.

I wouldn't, is the hood paint in bad condition? If not i would leave the hood alone esp. I have never liked the look of a lined hood, just from an aesthetic standpoint.

Good point on the roof, if it did discolor a little it would hardly be visible and it would be good protection.

My memory said your truck was blue but it looked grey in the pictures. I try not to trust my memory much. I was thinking color matched sides for a solid body, black armor and white roof. That is assuming you go line-x since they can match.

Yea the paint on the hood and roof is pealing, so it will also help with that. I probably will go with grey top to bottom, but there is just something about having that white up there. I definately agree with all of you that to many colors looks like a bad primer job.

i think you should go with the white top. i'm digging the black and grey bottom but if i had to choose i'd probably go black.

Ah yes the one vote I was looking for!:D I really like the white top also, so maybe just going black around wouldn't be such an off set to it. Of course the black color of the paint program is a lot more robust than the actual liner. Plus it will fade with time.

i think the gray liner would look good....nah. i say black.

Crazy, my 80 came with a heat dissipating white roof. Chock another one up for JAFW80 ;)

I would go light gray roof and bottom! A 3-tone would look horrible.
You will probably need 2 gal maybe even an additional quart. Have FUN, it is much more work than you think especially going all the sides. Lot's of taping!

And this is why you have to go in and do the door jams...

That is why I am getting in done. I know I could do it but for the price it is well worth having some one else do it.

Yea I guess a body match for the sides and the white on top would be a good idea.

One last Idea

Trying tho match the paint and go with white top. Sorry my paints skills are not that good.

Cool!

Any way of backing off the white portion on the front and rear pillars to mimic the removable roof of the original FJ40-
