Nevernind. Remove post.

I often see many claim these are actually “damage multipliers” due to the way they are mounted and not the same as a full on frame mount steel bumper.

I personally don’t have any experience with these or if the above statement is true

I have heard much the same as Acrad. I don't know what kind of steel they use.

Whats your application?

Unless it mounts directly to your frame, run, don't walk away.
As Acrad stated, any and all these type of bumpers are "damage multipliers". When you're in a little bumper to bumper, these will bend up into your grill, the wide ones, into headlights, etc. when all that would normally have happened in a little bumper to bumper would have been maybe a scratch. That's why they're call damage multipliers, a little bump that may cost little or nothing if you didn't have one, is now an insurance issue.
It will also cause more damage to whomever you may bump into because it's hard steel and not flexible plastic that will return to it's original shape.
Oh, and those recovery points with the wee little red D rings!!
In all honesty, if you want to go discrete or low profile, there are many other options that will work FAR better than that thing above. Look at what Victory 4x4 offers.
Hope this helps!

I said something similar but I deleted my post. These are indeed damage multipliers unless they are good steel and attached directly to the frame using some good mounting hardware.

I agree, for that price, it can not be high enough strength yield to have the desired effect.

Not even getting into how much leverage it would have on its mounts.

OK I get it...So, what can I do to mitigate damage from striking an animal in the road? We have on average 6000 animal strikes a year in Wyoming (I all but totaled a Camry some years ago)

I am planning on getting an ARB bull bar bumper from Slee and I commute from Loveland to Cheyenne.

Ironman Bumpers are a budget option that works well if you don't mind how far it sticks out.

Either of those will offer the protection you want. I know they are a lot more money, though.

To answer your question, we need to ask a question:
What are your plans for your GX:
  1. Keep it as stock as possible with just front protection.
  2. Light off roading, camping, groomed off road trails.
  3. Over landing.
  4. Rock crawling o_O
  5. What's your budget?
  6. Or???
Also, that bull-bar you posted wouldn't protect you from a larger 4 legged animal even if it was strong enough, it'd probably still crush the grill and?? You probably need something taller like an Ironman or ARB with the hoops over the front grill and lights, if you really want to protect your front end from an animal strike.
This will help the community to point you in a direction.
Relating to your animal strikes, I guess Tesla's don't mind the interaction!

ARB has nothing for a GX, Ironman is the only option, unfortunately no one in my area will install it, one body shop said they did one and it was a disaster, he said he spent 6 hours trying to fit it and it never looked right?

Nothing on their website I could find? Sorry, nothing found for prado/150. (or any combination) 4runner, LC, tacoma, and tundra only.

And

There you go getting my hopes up, But! I have a 2016, they only cover up to 2013.

If you can find me an ARB bumper I will buy it.
Call slee in Golden, all arb products for the America's go through the US so ARB dealers get access to Prado stuff but it does need some custom fab work. Nothing serious and they have done it before. So if you go through them you know you will be taken care of. I waited to do all.me serious stuff until I could have them or another toyota speciality shop on the front range do it over an Iowa shop.

I specifically have been in Slee and had this conversation face to face. I seriously recommend you check out the shop before committing and it should re-assure you.
