Thanx Alan for the fenders and encouragment!!!!

This is definetely the most ambitious project ive ever undertaken its crazy because i try to be 2 steps ahead with planning and 1 step ahead on parts scrounging ability

here is my latest thoughts:

gonna be more of a truggy than a buggy
might try and make it quasi_street legal
all this is only stage 1

stage 2 will be SPOA,disc brakes,front locker

stage 3 is Chevota Time 350/700r4

Front end Focus

here is a picture of the remnants of my bib and fenders....we had to save the aprons but have new fenders and bib so this should look half decent....for now it will look like this with no front clip at all....gonna do some frame wirewheel and grinder action, rustproofing and rust oleum, plus gonna do my mini-truck PS conversion while i have everything stripped out of there...so it will be awhile....also tried a test fit of the windshield frame....anyone got a set of windshield frame screws...had to cut out all of mine....thanx guys

Thats exactly what i did temporarily Tom,and it may be permanant........sold my jump seats and some unneeded mini-truck parts on Ebay.....used the paypal $$$ to order a PS mount from JT outfitters and a set of 2" lift shackles.....got the front seats in permanant and started the process on the rear floor.....my uncle is the body man so i got him "restoring" my front end.....hopefully the next pictures are dramatic!!!!

Settled on a color scheme....Rust-oleum Sun Yellow and Dollar General Black....................only the best for my baby.....and its not gonna be a Steelers mobile....even though i do represent

Check out these sweet emblems!!!!theyre not quite like the originals but i like em.....Neil keeps harrassing me about buying emblems for a "buggy" but WTF

Ok, I suck ive gotten nothing done on the buggy all week....luckily my uncle continues with the sanding, fixing, filling, sanding, priming, painting of my hood, aprons, fenders, bib, cowl, grill etc.....but im waiting for it to be assembled for a picture....i was supposed to do the PS conversion but ive been BURIED at the shop.....so for now i will attempt to entertain everyone with pictures of what Santa (UPS) brought for the 40

I also have spare springs from the 78... lmk.

Hey ED, do your 78 springs already have the bolts out of the bushings?
Is there bushings?
are the springs complete packs with center pins?
How much you want for them?

Respond on here if u want or PM me....Thanx

Dunno they're in my rental garage i never get to it... i'm pretty sure they've got bushings w/out bolts, and yes center pins. How's $25 sound

sounds good! if u can let me know once youve got them or maybe bring em to the next meeting on tuesday that would be awesome.........Tom said you wanted $75 for the "spooled" third....i gotta make sure i am 4.10 and Tom said something about spline count we gotta be sure of before then but the springs are a definite....let me know,Thanx

Well i got the steering box out......now for those :bang::censor: rivets that hold the box to the frame.....once i get the power steering box and mini-truck pump bracket installed we are gonna throw the front clip back together.......hope i remember how everything goes......:hmm:
hope i remember.jpg

I actually wasnt sure about the bezel....:meh:..then i found a whole thread on bezel orientation....hilarious!!!!!

Today I ground the heads off the rivets, then beat the mount off of the frame with a 20lb sledge, then heated the rivets white hot and air chiseled then out....one at a time........once the paint dries i can mount my JT outfittters PS mount

I also found time to pry the stock shackles from the front and install my 2" lift shackles.....stock shocks aint gonna cut it...they are my limit straps:whoops:

While I was up there i also trimmed and drilled my "universal" winch mount...40 holes in the damn thing and none lined up on the fj40

sorry about no pics.....coming soon!!!

So by now you all realize my camera and lighting suck.....but here is a couple pictures of the ongoing 40 project

Picture 1: shows the frame repainted and the 2" lift shackles on,I had to move the rear shocks to the front to get more reach, and i got a set longer than the rear shocks to go in the back

Picture 2: a sneak peek at the new bib,all assembled and the passenger fender, and the front edge of the hood which was covered with minor rust holes and my uncle repaired....all painted sunshine yellow......not in the picture is the winch mount and PS box mount......next step is gutting the whole PS system from an 84 Mini-truck in my lot........once that is reinstalled on the 40 i can complete the entire front end and move on to stretching the wheelbase in the rear, frame recontructive surgery and finish the rear floor and make some rear fenders....later

P.S. doesnt Emma look excited?! shes 5 and cant wait to wheel the "new yellow toyota jeep"!!!!

Thanx alot!! I havent done it any other way all my trail rigs have been ressurected from a certain death.....but this is by far the most extensive.....and im not even really doing it how i want.....i have to cut corners to save time and money...but then again if i made it too perfect i wont wanna wheel the :censor: out of it!!!!!!!

Heres what igot for Black Friday (actually ordered it days ago) !!!! cant wait to install this but i got a long way to go.....the front end will be done within a week and then i gotta get springs from Ed and find a passenger side U-bolt plate(broke the shock mount off...DOH!) and then ill have everything i need to carry me thru till Uncle Sam (income tax) buys me some roll cage tubing.......

Ok some advice........

im wondering about flipping the rear springs for extended wheelbase and rear tire clearance

Do you think the driveshaft will have to be extended? retubed? or is there driveshaft extensions (spacers) available?

Will the upper shock mounts on the crossmember(tube) need to be moved to the rear side of the tube to align with the axle?

Brake line hoses? did anyone (everyone) have to get longer lines when they installed a lift?

thanx alot everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
