Thanx i need it.........believe it or not this thing runs great and was just down Wellsville,OH wheelin a few weeks ago...picked it up for $375 and making a buggy....so its not as much work as a full resto would be

you know me Tom ..ill put the drivers seat back in...stick the fuel line in a can of gas and im ready for the rocks.....speaking of fuel lines do these trucks have a return line? my uncle cut both lines coming out of the tank and now were not sure:whoops:

Day 2

So heres where i got to after another few hours...nearly all the metal thats coming out is out....except the rear crossmember/rear bumper which needs cut out and the last foot of the frame...then box it in,lower the rear spring mount an inch, and weld in a rear cross/bumper........also check out one of my 33" TSL's mounted up for a test fit......2 days down....298 to go

will that windshield frame bolt up and work? does it have glass in it?...(i have glass but scared of the transfer)..........prob 90% gonna go with a fuel cell since i lost my filler mounting area and for badass buggys sake

close of week one.... DAY 7

well at this point we got the frame ground down to where we want it........im replacing the crossmember that is under your floor under the rear mounts for the front seats....using 4"x4" .250 box tubing......then realized the 33's at full stuff WILL rub the crossmember....so had to clearance cut the square end to a triangle from the outer edges in to the frame mount and box it in...then i can mount my 4" .125 C-channel rockers in place running from the end of the crossmembers to the original A pillars of the 40.......at that point ill have a basis for the front floor and can relocate my original seat mounts off of the tub remnants lanquishing outside on to the floor and the 4x4 crossmember.....ill post pics of this once its done

Due to my Ethiopian budget I am keepibg the stock wheelbase....but i had been wondering about flipping the rear springs......I have broken leaves so i had to pull the springs off anyway.......If it gains me 1.5" I will def do that.......especially since i think im gonna add a lil length to the rear of frame so i can fit 4 seats and a fuel cell....btw Ed your right those metaltech cages look SWEET!......Prob cant afford it but i might try and borrow there front profile design.......back to the MIG....

Def want those rear springs and ill take the 4.10 welded third also....once i am sure that i am 4.10 and when i get a little $$$ and/or get to that stage of the build.....right now i located the seat mount/crossmember that the B-pillar of the cage will sit on,frenched in the C-channel for the rocker and jigsawed a floor out of .125 plate......damn this is gonna be heavy....land mines wont be a problem though:grinpimp:

well, still workin on the floor and seat mounts.....but check out this set of fenders i found for $150.....kinda pricey for my budget...but i cant resist....there just so nice........bear with me tryin to load these pictures

Can't see the fender pix.

Ever check out the MetalTech tube fenders? I wanna get them for mine. Somethin to think about if you're spendin that much... stock fenders will get munched on a hard-use trail rig.

Better yet... maybe get a tube bender. Yeah.... you need a tube bender. And I'll be your very good friend.

I actually just got a 16 ton hydraulic bender from Horrible Fright.......and i am goin to bend some 1"x.120 and tuck it up under the outer edge of these fenders......from the cowl forward i want to stay as 40 as possible but still be rock ready......it will be a shame if i raisin these fenders tho......if you ever want to bend some pipe let me know i still wanna check out those springs n pumpkin too.

seating arrangement

Well after getting back from the 1st Annual Eastern Ohio Trail Tour...lol....I was renewed to get this buggy on its roof....i mean on the trail........the front floor is nearly done, just waiting on a few odds n ends courtesy of Tom, and ive begun to plot out rear seats and fuel cell mounting...this shows my basic idea with the cell goin in the rear....also check out the near mint bib hanging on the wall in the window...nice!
