So what was the story with that mangled J**p?? Guess I left too early to see it happen.

BTW - Darin your 45 is phenomenal. You really need to get up with Barry and do a photo shoot..it would be a perfect combo...2 of the best looking 45s ever!!

Just a bunch of young men with a pink cooler in the back decided to give the mud pit a run. They hit it at about 35 mph and plowed through to the first hole and sprayed the knuckleheads standing next to the guardrail, falling all over themselves trying to get away. I'd guess you'd find it on youtube in the near future.

And, I agree with getting the two 45's together, would be a great photo op for sure...

Long story of that jeep is it ran the 4x4 cross in 08 and got beat to crap. Then they did a front flip off of a big rock pile in the summer of 08. I thought they had killed it but looks like it came back for more.

Good to see everyone again. My family had a good time...though wished there was a little more action earlier in the day.

I think that Breuer might have had the most fun though...crazy dog slept the rest of the night.

We were told the same thing about the raffle. I might have to go talk to someone soon. I made pretty good friends with the person that set this whole thing up. Too late for this one but if they do something again they will hopefully tell people the right thing whatever that is.

Some additional Photos

Was not at all what I was expecting...little disappointed for what little time I was there. Not to mention I am still wondering where the $40 it cost me to get in went too....:hhmm:

All in all it was a nice turn out, good to see everyone again. Hopefully Jon with TLCA was impressed with our support if nothing else. Hopefully he was able to add a few new members to TLCA.

Looks like everyone hung around for a little while so hopefully the afternoon got a little more interesting than the morning.

Enjoy...

Hey guys!! 1st off, just wanted to thank all of you from TLCA that came out to support us in our first event...I was in fact very dissapointed in the turnout as you can tell with all of the event stuff that we had left over we thought we'd have a lot larger attendance... Found out later that about an hour down the road they had about 2000 at the mud racing series championship at Sanford...without that shoulda been much larger...I'll be the first to admit I am new at all this stuff and had no idea at what I was doing when planning this event BUT it was a great learning experience and we've already started on next year to make it much better organized and thought out as well as larger....next year the activities will be broke up in two days opposed to trying to cram everything in on Saturday...Also, we'll be planning on doing the event the same weekend as one of the official mud races at the stables to bring that extra 2000 people to us...rock crawl and tire pull will be done on two separate nights and don't even know if there should be a concert...Whats your input on that to those who went...Also, any other ideas of what can be done to make this a bigger, more funfilled event? thanks for all your help! Daniel from RHT:)

First time around is going to be harder. Once word gets out it will be better. One thing Daniel that probably got alot of people, as i know it did us. My wife was told that if our raffle numbers were called and we were gone then we would get a call. If we had known otherwise then we would of given them to someone to win. I also think more events could of been planned.

I am sure we can think of more between all of us. Also think you could talk to more clubs and get the word out.

Tell Wally i said Hey.

BLUFF

I was a little disappointed as well. I know the first year is always rough but it takes a LOT to get an event like that off. But it was a good attempt and I think with more work it could possibly turn into something. That sad thing is you are now going to lose hundreds of people that will not return becuase of the way it went down the first time.

#1: Staff: Completely clueless. Every single one of them. Didn't know their left hand from their right it seemed.

#2: Signage. If you want to attract people from out of the area a clue here and there that they are on the right track is nice to have on the main highways in. Also within the park itself.

#3: Events: Do not spread it out over two days. You didn't have enough stuff to cram into even one day.

#4: Mud Pit...I grew up in hickville USA on the left coast. Never had a more pissed off drunk crowd more than when the builders of the pit made it so hard nobody could get thru. Really lowers the pool of rigs you get to sign up for it as well.

#5: Rockcrawling event...when did it really start? I saw some rigs on it but was that it? Seating was awkard in the area as well for that event

#6: Camping. If I did want to stay where was the designated area. Not clarearly maked and the facility layout was odd. Was it in the field? Was it up top? Was it both?

#7: Vendors.....what were they selling. Besides FABFOURS there were not any products out. Just DVD's and Koozies. Nobody there to talk about the Toyota Frame and components.

#8: Ditto on the raffle. I left just before it started...wish I would have known as the reason I spent a few minutes filling out the back of the ticket was because I was told I did not need to be present. I was also not present because a clearly defined time and place of when the raffle would take place was not posted.

#9: The food vendors actually did a pretty good job. Good thing for them you did not invite any more. But if you want it bigger they are going to have to bring in more variety.

#10: Power for the vendors if they need it. I know this is not SEMA but find a display these days that doesn't need juice.

#11: Tell people what they want to do. People are sheep if you have an open agenda and things all over they will do nothing. People as much as we preach our Freedom and we love choice it is a paradox. People thrive structure and love nothing more than for other people to give it to them. Think of the most popular events out there. Control the crowd, Focus their attention, and have full command and control of the events taking place.

I've probably got more if you want it. Really your company needs to look at what it wants to accomplish with this event. This is a business event..take it serious like building a business and you will succeed. Do they want to promote their product...sell a certain vehicle line...or just create something big just so the owner can say he did something great with his life. This will help direct the entire operation.

"It only hurts the first time"

First off, Jerry and Crew, the TLCA/ONSC booth was superb - everything about it! Multimedia, great posterboards, plenty of information, that would be at home at any event.

Daniel, the whole point of the event was lost on me - what was it all about? I mean both the cause and the focus. There was nothing happening until after 2PM and had so many of our Club members not been there, I would have left a lot earlier and been very very unhappy. The physical layout and the event layout were like a spaghetti bowl, which gets back to my focus comment.

I wish you much success with it if you guys decide to do this more often. I just won't pay $20 to go unless some Club members come back and hoot about what a great event it was.

Yes I hope all the money does go to the troops. I didn't mind forking out 40 bucks for both vehicles to get in (was just going to park the other one down the street) but figured it was for a good cuase. I hope that is the case.

Agreed, it seemed that Hendrick was more involved in their vehicles than the actual event at hand, even the people at the gate were confused on were to send me when I tried to leave. Heck I know it was only 12pm when I left and maybe that was the problem-they didn't expect to see someone leave then. I just wish more information was provided, the waiver wasn't even described to me like I thought it should, they just asked why I hadn't signed it-that alone gave me a bad taste.

Like Joe has said if it wasn't for the members and Jon with TLCA I would have probably only stayed for 30 minutes. There wasn't anything that grabbed my attention right away.

Again, this is constructive criticism. Take it and use it to grow this event...

Is there a chance to post the information on this thread as to how the money (even percentages) was spent/donated?

I wanted to thank everyone again for your support and participation for this event. It was a quick request with an outstanding reply. We put on a nicely appointed area, as Joe mentioned, with multimedia (I wish I could have been able to shade the tv/projector better for better viewing), pictures and plenty of member rigs to show off.

I really appreciate Clint pulling the generator off along with Brian and Heather that put together a "quickie" with their club calendar for 2010 and STR '10 promo display. Thanks for everyone who got there early (though we spent much of the time spinning our wheels) for set up and everyone who chipped in to bring all the little things to put it all together.

Well done everyone, we actually looked like we knew what we were doing...

From reading the posts on the different club forums and on nc4x4, seems a LOT of off road clubs were interested and showed initial support, but dropped out at the last minute. We were the only club/organization (that I saw) that manned a booth and showed some public visibility to field questions and at least sign new members up. The host club didn't even have a booth to talk with the public. Seems that the clubs that were there, were just interested in showing off, with a big rush of testosterone.

It's a good example of how far we'll have to come before we can fight some of the facility closures like Tellico.

Everyone - please email any pictures to Jon Sourbeer that might fit into an article about the event. He is past a deadline and this is something that would be great to have done today if possible.

His email is: jonathan_sourbeer at freddiemac dot com

Thanks...
