JR has grown into his body at 90lbs. He unfortunately learned the hard way 4 weeks ago to not play or try to eat a porcupine regardless that it invaded your play area at breakfast time. That was a fun fast 7:15 am drive to the vet and not cheap surgery to remove 20 quills to the snout. He has fully recovered.
Also sorry to hear about the other losses the last few months, all!
Love all the dog pics!
Dexter is fighting some allergies, again, where he licks all the hair of the end of his tail
Gotta keep him off the Chicken/Rice and/or the Lamb sticks at Costco are causing it - not sure.
We got the Benedryl in him a few days later than we should have. Poor guy! Seems at ease now.
A lot of you already know from Facebook, but since Jack was definitely an “O.G. ONSC Dog”, I thought I would let you guys know that I had to say goodbye to him yesterday evening. He was 13 1/2 years old and had become ill with some kind of progressive autoimmune/neurological issue that resulted in pretty rapid loss of muscle mass in his hind legs and notably his cranial masticular (chewing) muscles. It was progressive and I couldn’t let it continue to take away his quality of life, so we made the only decision that was kind to him.
The loss of Jackson has been difficult to get over, but we really miss having the presence and energy of a dog in the house. So since I’m home from work for a couple of weeks, we decided to add another member to the family.
Meet “Sachi”, short for “Sachiko”, which is a Japanese name that means “Happiness”. She’s a 4 1/2 month-old hound (probably mostly Plott Hound). We brought her home on Monday from Saving Grace rescue. So far, she’s slept a LOT, but she’s a snuggler and seems to feel pretty comfortable with us.
