I'd like some feedback on CruiserOutfitters.com before I send them my hard earned cash (for a knuckle rebuild kit among other things). Does anyone have any feedback on their quality of parts and service?

....and while we're on the topic, if anyone has strong opinions one way or the other on any online cruiser parts retailers (SOR, CCOT, MAF, cruiserparts, etc.) let's hear it!!

thanks,
CC

Ive had good (I guess no complaints) with Spectre and Man-a-Fre. You can certainly argue costs, but I'd rather have a place to go when I need it than not. And they are in the business of making money.

Dont know about Cruiser Outfitters.

You should be able to get the knuckle kit cheaper from C-Dan and American Toyota.

Can you give him-me this info on C-Dan and American Toyota?

Personally, I prefer OEM toyo parts for knuckle rebuilds, especially the seals & bearings - worth every penny in the long run:D

Call Amercian Toyota [advert in upper right of screen] for quality service and fair pricing

I used the cruiseroutfitters knuckle kit on my front axle rebuild...nice stuff, good trunion bearings (there are two different styles for those), wish it had included the metal band and the metal moons for the backside of the knuckle, but all else was complete and good stuff. Price was excellent. Kurt is on the forum and is a good s***....good pricing, he might offer a discount, always worth asking. Rockin price on inner axle seals...IIRC, I got 10 from him...hehehe

cruiserdan on the forum is AmericanToyota - PM him, or watch for his banner and ring him up. He's gotten items for me that the local dealer claimed either A> didn't exist or B> only existed in goofy overpackaged kit form. He outta know part numbers off the top of his head for most anything on yer rig (test him....hehehe) Call the number, press 8 for his extension. If Toyota original is a must, cDan is the master.

I've had excellent service and delivery from both.

I got a disk knuckle kit from Cruiser Outfitters a month ago, good price, fast shiping, bearings are Koyo(price those at the dealer for comparison, MUCH spendier) I have not installed it yet......I got it for when I need to do the knuckles on something....someday ;)

wheel bearings I always get localy at the brake shop, CR or SFK brand, Koyo in the box, MUCH cheaper than dealer.

Kurt has always been great to me, I've gotten my OME lift from him, an oil pump, oil pan gasket (one piece, not two). Great prices, and for me he's local. Give him a call and see what he can do for you.

Dan's number is 1-800-432-6668 ext 8. He's the parts dept manager at America Toyota, and IH8MUD.com members get a deep discount when ordering there. Also, when orders go above $100 you get free shipping, which is always fast anyway.

Army Tanks.

Cool Cruisers of Texas has always done me right. I guess Specter is okay, too. Often, though, Napa-affiliated places or other local auto parts stores can order you what you need at a cheaper price. If you get it from a Cruiser specialist, plan to pay more almost every time.

I would add, though, that in the overall scheme of things, supporting the Cruiser specialists has to be a good thing. At least you know they'll know what you're talking about and will typically have anything you need.

Thanks for all the input...I'll check into American Toyota, but it sounds like Cruiser Outfitters is a decent place as well.

excuse my ignorance Woody (I've never been in the knuckle before), are the "metal band and moons" parts that must be replaced when the knuckle is rebuilt, or are they reusable and just worn out in your case? Thanks

its reusible.

completely reusable and non-wearables...however, if your aging memory recalls that they were in a kit you installed previously (albeit 7-8 years back) and you opt to toss everything you have prior to opening the kit you ordered, it can be a bit irritating...fortunately, I had 5-6 other axles on the floor, and it was only a few minutes to scavenge another couple sets.

Woody-

It is my understanding that Toyota does not sell a front axle overhaul kit ' major ' that includes the four half moon steel pieces. The 'major' kit only has the felt, rubber and steel ring. There is a 'minor' knuckle wiper kit that includes the half moon pieces, along with the felt, rubber and the steel split ring...not very much monies in the scheem of things...I keep a few on hand all the time becasue it seems that someone is always doing a frontendectomey on a Saturday or Sunday and NEEDS something...

Sorry that I do not have part numbers...

Good luck!

Oh,

Sorry about the hijack....

I have used Browns Toyota city in MD, SOR, and MAF, for over 15 years....

Classic Cruisers has treated me very well over the past ten years...

I am glad that there are companies out there that want to provide support for a vehicle that has not been in production for over 20 years...

Good luck!

Kurt is a great guy with generally good prices. SOR is fine but expensive. MAF is expensive with an attitude. Downey sucks!. I would not buy lawnmower parts from them. Cruiser parts is good for many used items. I buy a lot from them. JT, well lets just say JT has a few issues they need to work through. TPI is great. They are my main supplier. I have heard good things about Liquid Off Road but never ordered from them. CCOT has a few good deals but many of their parts are low quality.
