On-Board Heat Source (Stationary)

I'm currently working on my wish list for the expedition portion of my build-out. I was curious what you use for a heat source when you've made camp.

I'm going to be putting a gas cook top in my FJ45 so I'm thinking about putting a tee in place and running a small propane heater like this:

I would prefer something with a bit more finished look that I can build into the storage area though.

Any ideas?

if you are in a camping site with regular tension from the local electric net that heater might be ok , despite the huge Amp of consumption.
but if you wish to camp in a remote area with out electric source , you can make ice cream inside your truck !!!

I have a very strange but efficient diesel stove , that works as cooker and heater .

not cheap , not easy , a bit complicated , but efficient and most of all independent.

is you choose a air heater go with eberspaecher , they have also a altitude compensator that can be very useful if you are in the mountains , over 2000 mt .

Webasto Air top, clean forced air, completely safe to use and very economical fuel consumption. I have a Webasto coolant heater, and I tapped right into the truck fuel line.

I run both the Airtop 2000 and the TSL 17 from webasto. I have slept in my Cruiser in -40 celsius with the airtop on min and had the windows cracked and had to take the sleeping bag off. They are great on fuel too

Hey Lucky, do you run the airtop all night? How much battery drain? Do you run it and the TSL 17 on a secondary battery?
I have my TSL 17 on second battery.

That Scanmarine stove/heater, I think that Webasto makes a similar stove, very cool! But need permanent installation as near as I can tell.

That heater will cook you out of an FJ45. I use the same one to heat my garage when temps drop below freezing.

The Wabasto heaters work well. My son had a diesel one in his big rig to heat the cab when he would park overnight. His sleeper was probably larger than the inside of an FJ45.

How about a small rv heater.. Atwood or other. I'm running an Atwood in my chinook. They are small. And I got mine for under a $100.

The air top webasto sip fuel and power. They are rated for 25W or so on full power. They draw more than that for start up but not much more and not for long.

I've just picked up a tsl17 and will be adding it to pre heat the hz in troopy. This coupled with the air top already installed should be wicked awesome for winter. I have oodles of battery power and think I have ability to run both for 20 hours straight.

Should have the new heater installed for our upcoming ice fishing trip.

I'll have two group 31's for starting duty and an auxiliary telecom 115 Ah battery for powering the webasto's....

I went with motomaster nautalis AGMs. You are correct the telecom is an AGM too.

I just finished my webasto install. It is currently heating my engine in the heated garage as a test....

Do you have a couple of pics of the install of the webasto? Did you install the timer as well?
I didn't but I won't see the harsh winter you do.

Yeah I have never had a problem starting my truck after a night of the airtop being on. I do have dual batteries though. The airtop has a thermostat built in and really doesnt need to kick in much as the heat on minimum is more than enough to heat my 80

Thanks, I've got enough battery power now. Maybe next year I'll look for an airtop. Would be worth
a lot to me on the trips up north.
