the 860s are advertised as providing 2-2.5" lift. Not sure how that's the case if they are the same as factory length.

As @jLB said, the spring rate is just higher for the 860s compared to the OEM coils, but the two are indeed the same free height. “Lift” does not equal more suspension travel.
