I want to take a leaf or two out of my OME heavy springs. Can I do it while they are in the vehicle?

Yes you can just support the vehicle by the frame and at the axle. It can be a struggle to get everything lined back up. A ratchet strap will be helpful.
I just did this on my 40. 2.5 ome lift. Bottom 3 off the front and one off the rear leaving the overload spring. Sits level and the shackle angle is better. I have 31/10.50 bfg and it looks just a bit taller than stock. Flexes better too. Pic with the doors off is before I removed the springs. Hope this helps.

Thanks that helps me a lot

A couple of big clamps and a long bolt or rod in the spring pin hole to help line up the springs when you tighten up the clamps that are position on either side of the pins hole. Once the springs are clamp tight install the center pin bolt.

I supported mine with jack stands in front and behind each axle when I dropped both axles to rebuild and then replaced the springs.

I have a Con a Fer rear bumper and used that to support the rear and they others had 6 stands under mine. I still did not feel comfortable working under it because I have had friends that have there car or trailer fall on them.

Can you take a picture of the springs so we can see what that looks like? I would have been scared to take 3 off at once

Very nice - thank you! I have some unknown springs on my mine and they seem to be good quality but maybe a little stiff. something I'll be looking at in the future

I had a 2.5 inch pinnacle springs from jto some twenty years ago that I had to remove several leaf springs to get it to soften up and not bounce me to death. Trial and error. My 40 doesn’t get loaded with more than one person and a weekend of gear.
That said my ome springs ate much better quality, I just needed to fine tune them for my application. Good luck.
