OME Post-Install Problem

We have only done the 703's but those will all trucks with bumpers and winches. So I do not know what the 702 will yield. In none of the cases did we need different upper arms and in all cases the trucks aligned fine.

Hence once again I think something went wrong with the installation. Something just isn't right and I am willing to bet that something went happened with the KDSS during installation.

I doubt KDSS can have anything to do with that. The front links are attached to the A arms with links that can flex. They will cause the lean that you experienced with the install, not pulling the arms in like that. The swaybar has to move with the A arm through it's complete cycle, and it can not pull the wheel in like that.

Either the truck is to tall, or the alignment specs they used were wrong. When we did ours, the shop did not have 08 LC specs yet from the people that make the alignment racks and we supplied it from the Toyota tech site. If anything we might have compromised a little on caster to get camber in spec.

DTT and Chimyz: Having a stiffer spring could definately be the problem. Wheb you load the spring with weight it is designed to sag a bit. With to stiff a spring the body of the vehicle can not compress the sping to sag and could throw off the alignment. Either you need to add weight to the front by buying the bumper/winch or change out to the 702 springs. Have you asked ARB about this yet?

I threw in the stiff springs prior to installing the ARB Bumper...there was minimal sag once the bumper was installed, and I did not experience any alignment issues prior to installing the bumper. Actually, there was minimal alignment to be done once the OMEs replaced the Radflos.

My suggestion at this point would be to take a dune at 60+ miles and land the rig on the front two wheels first...I'm sure it will either help the wheels settle, or totally break them off. Either way you won't have the issues any more.

Boots - I feel for you and your install problems. It sucks when things don't go right.

JB - I wouldn't worry about installing yours, this is sounding like it is a one off problem.

when we had boots truck aligned the caster was the only thing that they couldn't get into spec.

the camber is within spec, toe within spec(DUH), caster outside spec(about 1/2* on either side)

with the caster being out and the camber within, is why i suggested doing the upper control arms.

if the caster spec is easier to achieve(after upper CA install) then the camber may also come easier.

Guys - thanks for all of the help and advice. Vince @ IPOR is ordering the 702s and we are going to swap them for the exisitng 703s and then get a re-alignment. Since he will be doing this he'll essentially undo any potential install issues that might have gone wrong. Not sure how long it will take to get the springs from ARB but I am hopeful that we can get this completed by mid next week. I will post the results so we will know what the issue was and what it took to resolve it.

Why are you going with the constant load springs in the rear? Just curious...I'm going with the 702/722 springs.

Just drove in from SA with new OMEs, ride is stiff and I no longer wallow after dips. Bumps are solid but I can live with it. Over all I am very pleased with the look, no alignment issues. Seems to be enough room for bigger tires but that will wait for a while. I kinda like the new look.

As DTT said, I tow often - camping trailer with rtt, coffee shippments with larger trailer - and didn't like the way the rear sags. These constant load springs should help to maintain profile and not piss-off oncoming traffic at night. That made me feel real bad...but not any more!

Ok, if all goes well, here are my after pics. Yes, there is lots of space in fender wells but I like the look for now. Towed 1/4 load camp trailer earlier this morning and it had not impact!

Ok guys. Thanks vince for chiming in while I was gone playing in Moab. We will have the 702's in for boots monday or tuesday. Talking with ARB this is definetly the problem. no bumper or winch the springs are netting out to much lift. I would how ever recommend anyone trying to net out more than 2" of lift to get the TC upper control arms. We netted almost 3" of lift on the first 200 we did and it had no bumper and it aligned perfectly with the arms.
