Hi everyone! Doing some outfitting to a 2016 Land Cruiser and looking at lifts. I heard from a shop (that admittedly does Jeeps mainly) that doing the lift will remove the capabilities of the suspension, if that makes sense.

This particular vehicle has KDSS, but does not have AHC. Will lifting it remove any of the capabilities of the truck or have any negative consequences?

Would you recommend OME, ICON, Fox, Toytech, or anything else?

OH AND THE MOST IMPORTANT PART - I heard the front springs for OME are back ordered a month or so.... anyone know where to get the OME kit right now??

Thank you everyone for your input!!!

I recently installed an OME lift on my otherwise stock 09. I would consider it an excellent upgrade all around. The lift height is moderate. Definitely a noticeable height gain but not excessive by any means. My 33s look good with the lift.

Ride is firmer than stock but not nearly as firm as the OME lift was on my 2010 4Runner. I feel that ARB did a great job tuning the OME lift for the 200 platform. No down sides except possibly some reduction in fuel economy due to the increased under carriage drag.

The front springs were on back order when I ordered mine. I had to wait several months for them to arrive. When they did arrive I was told that the entire shipment of springs from AUS were already allocated. Sounds like they still haven't caught up to demand. I purchased mine from Cruiser Outfitters who were excellent to work with.

OME is the only lift I've used on my Cruiser so I can't speak to any other platform. OME has a reputation for building solid suspensions that have very long life. Many other race oriented shock systems may (or may not) ride better but have significantly reduced life before needing to be rebuilt. I personally don't want to have to send my shocks off every so many years to get refurbished.

An OME lift will definitely leave your vehicle more capable. No loss in functionality or performance (on or off road) should be expected.

^^^Pretty much sums up my 1 year old experience with OME, bought as well from Cruiser Outfitters. I also am running 33's. Did go with the UCA's.

I'm running stock UCAs. I figured I'd try the stock first then get some Light Racing UCAs (or what ever they are calling themselves now) if I ran in to problems. So far I've had no issues with the stock UCAs.

Another happy Cruiser Outfitters customer here. They definitely know their stuff when it comes to cruisers and suspension.

I have purchased multiple OME kits from them and have always been happy with them including the kit on my 2010 LC. I'm not sure what they have in stock right now, but my setup came in relatively quickly a few months ago, but I know there seems to be a lot of demand right now.

Oh and definitely no "reduction" in capabilities at all. I think you will be pleasantly surprised if you talk to Bryce or Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters.

Good luck!

First: Do NOT use that shop that told you that! Lol...
They are either grossly misinformed about KDSS (in which case, they can seriously screw it up with an expensive visit to Toyota for a super-high pressurization routine)...

Or... They are simply BSing...telling you complete garbage. :hillbilly: I tend to UNDERSTATE shop failures as a pretty patient guy, but they are just way off.

Finding a good shop familiar with Land Cruisers is sometimes difficult-- so much so that I have been known to drive 1100 miles each way to Slee Off-road, because they know Cruisers.

What are you hoping to get with a lift & how do you want to drive (terrain types, speeds, big rocks...fast desert, or just street potholes of, etc.?)

Second Qis whether cost is a big issue.

Even the most basic version of Old Man Emu suspension (which will result in a modest lift in most cases) will offer far better handling both on road and off...body lean, and a lot let of the bounce-and-rattle you get with stock.

So a little more info would be helpful so you can receive the best info. There are a ton of friendly, helpful, knowledgeable folk here... :)

But again... Find a new shop! :)

I'm in the same boat. Looking at lids for my 17. Been leaning toward the top-of-the-line BP-51 kit. Many have said it is definitely worth the premium over the Base kit. We'll see!

I just put the OME on mine as well and agree with what other said. I ran into the back order and decided to get the 2703 springs for the front guessing it would level it out a bit better. It still has a slight rake and the alignment came in right at the maximum for adjustment but stayed in alignment. My guess is that it will be be closer now it's settled in. It was firmer at first but after 3k miles of heavily loaded road trip, the springs have settled a little and the ride is nice. If you want to lift now and not wait on the 2702s, the 2703 will work just fine. Bottom line, it's my wife's daily driver and I didn't want to spend a ton of money lifting it and loose the nice factory ride. I was pleasantly surprised at the improvement and wouldn't go back.

The shop talking about losing KDSS may be thinking about 4Runner/Lexus GX470s having KDSS removed sometimes, in which case they're demonstrating they don't even know what model truck you have. Find someone more competent and experienced.

Don't use the shop that does Jeeps mainly. You need a mechanic that knows your truck.
