Ya it is. I didn't mean to bash the top setup thats used here, just thought it was different, didn't mean anything negative about my statement just to be clear.

No bashing inferred!

The top mount was a evolution of the cable mount that came on mine from the PO (I bought a used AFI set up). It had serious cable rub/binding in part of the throttle stroke. The top-mount stays lined up for the full throttle travel.

I’m always open if something simpler/easier/better is out there.

@wngrog Any ETA on when you are getting the good replacement TBI unit and the extra thick gasket material. Interested to see how things pan out after those are on and taken care of.

It’s all at my house. I get to work on it Thursday and Friday. Should have a good solution.

Inbound. Thanks @beno

Curious what your fuel mileage will be with the efi on a fj60. I noticed a pretty big improvement on my 40.

I took this oil burner on a 800 mile trip before I retired it for the summer and I got about 13.5 average.

If all goes well I’ll be taking it on the same trip in 9 days. I’ll be able to get a good read.

What’s funny is that it took less time to get from the above picture to completely bolted in than it took me to put 7 bolts into the dust boots on the shifters.
That’s so true. I’ve quit trying to run the carpet under the metal frame of the boot. I mount them directly to the shifter plate and then tuck the carpet under the first fold (of the rubber boot) and above the metal ring.

I’m expecting to be as happy with this on the intake manifold as I have been on the Exhaust.

Tech Tip....don’t use the edge. (See top drawing) punching the hole makes the edge of the material mess up. Worked cleanly in the center

My punch was a .35 Whalen shell housing

Done. About to tear into it.

@maxbob002 and I got it buttoned up and I sent him home with the TBI that AFI fixes the injector pod on.

When I first fired it up I think I had a little leak still but after driving it the Ramflex sealed up with heat and it’s all gone.

What’s cool about the TBI is how it smashes through redline where the old carbs would stutter.

(The noise in video is the gravel hitting fenders)

I took it for a long drive. Super smooth. I can’t explain it. Feels like it should feel. It’s no powerhouse but the power is so smooth. No second barrel kick in and hesitation.

Easily hit 80 mph (speedo is 10mph slow with 3.70 and 33” tires)

Pretty girl. I’d be finished had I given the guy the proper paint code for the hood

I forgot one thing.

Before the thicker gasket 2 of the AFI provided bolts for the adapter to intake were .100” too long to get a good bead of RTV in there to seal them for vacuum leaks.

After the Ramflex, they were perfect.

Put a rivnut into the frame for
The skidplate

Drive it....pack for the Cruiser Crawl next weekend
