Yes that is a nice ealy cruiser. 65? Handles on the bifold door, bigger taillights are all post 63. Has longer running boards, seems most 64s had the shorter ones. Toyota and 4 wheel drive emblems. What year did they start? Still trying to figure out what years had the large rear step. I think the one I have is off a 64. Pretty sure I took the short running boards and VIN plate from it too.

My '64, manufactured late '63, has the big step, the short running boards, and the handles on the bifold. I also have the old rectangular mirrors, but I prefer the round ones.

Anyone know if the both styles of mirrors were available in '64...rectangle and round? Or if one was standard issue, and the other an option?

Edit: that I can make out, my '64 would have only had the TOYOTA sticker below the driver side back barn door.

my 64 came with the round mirror. also i looked at the frame number on it and compared it to ccot and my frame must have been manufactured in 63 as they only go back to 64 and mine was a few thousand framese before the first one for 64.

I bought a hood spear from @rc6340 in 2018 and they said it was from an FJ40 owned by Roy Rogers daughter. Sold it to @oregon fj who put it on his restoration.
Told him to pass this history on but to my knowledge he didn't. This supports the oral history. Nice to know it was very likely true.
