Took Delivery of my 1986 FJ60 yesterday......

191K milles
Arizona truck, very little rust.....
stock.....

first order of business is to thoroughly clean it up & assess which OEM parts i would likely need and want to replace...

I ordered up a DNP carpet kit because the Arizona sun & heat has been brutal to the carpet, dash, and paint. Carpet wasn’t too bad, but it’s pretty dry rotted......

i will end up needing another dash pad, this one it reached too....i have checked online at the known places, and no one has.....if anyone has a lead, hit me up here.....

I knew the paint was going to be the one thing that i was unsure of when it arrived. it’s so hard to see what it really going on through pix online.....the paint is faded in spots, flaking in others, and has one light touch up spot at the rear side window corner.......wasn’t noticed until received. There are some other ares on the driver‘s side doors that are chalky and pitted....nothing much can be done about that.....rood looks great....has snake blinders on one side and mud flaps all around....they definitely help keep the damage and rust down....so....

I washed it, and then started working on the paint. There was a ton of black overspray on the hood and fenders....looks like something was sprayed nearby in the garage and there were boxes stacked on the hood......some clay and elbow grease......eliminated....

i worked on it for about 6-7 hours yesterday testing spots, method, etc.....do not want to wet sand and go that deep....so far, it’s looking pretty goof....i plan on using the eraser wheel on the old pin stripes, and having a friend come up with some more pin stripes/graphics for the sides.....planning on going top half of the doors on graphics......above the door handles etc....will also help cover the fade and the burned paint where [i think] one of the PO’s tried to “buff” the stripes away......

Anyway....I’ve already dialed up a ton of parts....Spring/shocks, bumpers, wheels, tires, sliders.....de smog....wench.....flip kit.....roof rack....center console.....and then some.....

will have these 5 almost NEW 33” bfg’s for sale soon....with the wheels..Hit me up....

Love it!

Got some stuff piling up....about to flip the Jug out.....

paint coming along slowly, used a pinstripe wheel to take the old dry stripes off....this is obviously how the passenger side doors got “burned”......i even managed to toast a couple spots, but shidd.... Looks like some rook painted half of the truck.......should have buffed and done by Sunday.....

this could be the fastest build out i've seen....

Finished (got tired of) working on the paint.....ton of BS going on with the paint.....from the doors....the roof....grille and all the body vents....lawd its maddening.....

raising it up a tad tomorro......

You can still see the ‘pig tails’ in the burned area from whoever thought it was cool to put a heavy grit sand paper on a DA sander.....me thinks it was the prinstripe that was buggin them......fail.....

Love a white 60! Good looking rig Lou! Congrats!

Iron Man constant load springs and foam cell pros installed today.

Lifted the rear 6” and the front 3”. We removed the huge donkey overload spring too.

Sits tall but there is a thousand pounds of armor on the way
