I have studied and studied all suspensions. I am wanting a 4" SUA lift. I am pretty set on Bilstein shocks. I am leaning towards the MAF shackle reversal. What other shackles should I get? I was looking at the HFS greaseable shackles and pins. Also are the MAF 4+ reverse U bolts worth the money? They claim to add another 1". I am just stumped on spring brand. Choices are HFS, Alcan, Skyjacker, Safari and OME. OME only comes in 2.5" only I think but if I add the MAF 4+ U bolts and maybe longer shackles then I may be able to achieve the 4" right? I will have a winch on the front and one day get the 4+ rear tire/cooler carrier. This will be a daily drive or driven a good bit since I have a car.

I would suggest doing what I'm doing.....Nothing.....

Seriously.....Don't be in a rush, keep reading the Threads, Learn what works and what doesnt, Learn from the experience and mistakes of others, Then you'll be in a position to make a good educated decision that you won't regret...

Sound reasoning. I bought the MAF 4+ kit, and don't like the shackle angles. When I called them, they didn't seem to care much at all.

 x2 on that...good answer..bbqboy..keep reading..i'm still doing that before i decide on what to buy here:D

Well I can totally respect that opinion. The only reason I m sort of rushing is because my shocks and springs are shot. My Cruiser is leaning much more than it is suppose to. I think I was told 3"
The ride is GOD AWEFUL. Not too bad on flat straight aways.

Don't forget Hellcreek.

Don't you have to use your OEM shackles with Hell Creek?

Does billstien make a shock long enough for the lifted truck?

I don't have the parts number but the shocks I am looking at the 5100 series. Go to their web site.

I would go with the OME lift and some nice shackles. what size tires are you trying to run?

33" but OME only comes in 2.5". i have read hundreds of post with hardly any negatives about them. I can say the same for HFS. Alcan has come into the equation but their springs are short. You can ask to have them longer but by how much? This would lengthen the wheel base right? Would it look funny?

I am happy with the 4" Downey set up that I just installed. I used there 1-1/2" shackles up front and there 2-1/2" shackles in the rear with there shackle bolts with greasable zirk fittings. As for the frame fixed spring pins, I used Old Man Emu. Jim @ Downey was very helpful and even has special bushings for matching up to the O.M.E. spring pins. They also carry the Bilstein shock line.

I have OME 2.5" w/ 33x12.5 tires and love it. Very nice Ride.

Good luck with your choice. There was a similar post last month by another member. He also used the polling option. Lots of different opinions and sound advice. I've got the MAF 4" lift and have no issues/major complaints.

I was looking at the HFS greaseable shackles and pins.

HFS pins are just drilled 5/8" bolts with PRESSED IN zerk fittings. If you break off one in the field, just try to R&R one while you're out there. NOT EASY. I removed all of mine at home (not easy) and drilled and tapped them for the stock 6m x1 zerks. It was a pain, but replacing broken zerks is a snap now.

If you can stick with your stock shackles, so much the better. Or look for quality greasable pins like the OME ones. The OME pins on mine are for the stock 15mm size. I finally made my own shackles out of the old OME pins and machined 3/8" flat stock to accept them. Replacing bushings is easy for the OME setup, but with the 5/8" pins/bolts, you have to drill out the bushings to fit. Not the easiest procedure, as the polyurethane didn't cooperate too well for me, even with a jury rigged jig to hold them in place on my drill press.

I would look into the Alcan setup, taking my time for the proper measurements. Good luck.

OMG:eek:, did you tell someone to actually go search for infomation? Why not start a new thread and ask for the part numbers?

Hey South Boston, I just blew coffee out my nose. Thanks for the laugh--good way to start the day.
