2021 with 50k miles. Was replacing my fog lights and had a peek in the engine compartment. Saw oil seeping from the area circled in the attached photo (this was after I wiped it off). This is the passenger side right above the alternator. Is this the timing cover? Cam tower? I saw the same seeping on the driver side too, right above the AC pump.

It wasn’t much but still have a powertrain warranty so hoping whatever it is gets covered but wanted some expert opinions before I take it to the dealer.

The horizontal interface there is between the block and cylinder head. Most likely it’s your timing chain cover leaking, and the oil is migrating along the top edge of the block and running down.

Many of us have this leak, which never seems to get bad enough to force dealing with it. But mine has four times the mileage.

Please post if they cover it under warranty.. frankly I’d be surprised if they do.

Personally, the job to fix it is so in-depth (like doing heart surgery on a healthy person), that even if they were paying for it I’d rather them leave it alone and I degrease the engine every oil change, which is what I’m doing now anyway.

That’s fair. I was considering that as well…just living with it and cleaning it off every 5K when I am doing oil/rotating tires/greasing zerks.

Mine was built 8 years before yours but for context, I got it with 105k miles and while the leak was there and clearly had been for a while, probably with no attempt to clean, it hadn't yet hit the ground or even made a huge mess of the skid plates. Now with another 100k on it the leak is definitely worse, but it still won't hit the ground if I degrease with every oil change at 5k. I figure maybe I'll deal with it as I approach 300k.. maybe.
