On a recent drive my oil pressure gauge went from the typical 1/4 reading to 0, jumped back up once or twice and now reads absolute 0, no reading or movement. Pulled over immediately, checked oil level, started back up, no odd sounds seems to be running normal. I've never heard an engine run with no oil pressure, but I assume it would not sound "normal". I've put a hand full of miles one to get home and car seems to be running just fine, no check engine lights or anything. So the assumption would be the Oil Pressure Sender went bad on me, Part # 83520-60051, I got the part on order and should be arriving soon. The question is, where the heck is it actually located? The below part diagram from Toyota does not really help me out much, or maybe I am just slow.

It is located on the passenger side or driver side? I assume driver side, but could almost go either way with it. My mechanic that helped me out recently quoted me parts and labor over the phone and stated its only estimated at a 1hr job, so I think this is a job I should be able to tackle myself in the garage assuming the 2-3X time factor.

I'm just looking for some quick guidance or resources to help me out on this job, any help would be appreciated. I searched the 200 Series forums and did not come up with much on the Oil Pressure Sender. Thanks in advance.

It appears to be located on the front of the engine just below the crankshaft pulley.

The “gotchas” from the Repair manual are a dab of Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344 on the threads prior to installing and not starting the truck for hour after reinstallation. Otherwise, it seems straightforward.

Now whether or not this will solve your issue, I can’t comment and won’t speculate.

Wow, thank you for the quick reply, very helpful. Fingers crossed it helps, I might look for the sensor today if time allows out of the office.

What repair manual are you referencing from your screen shots? Seems in depth and helpful, might be a worthy investment.

It is the Toyota Information System. If you carry a subscription for TechStream you have access to the web-based TIS repair manuals. It's pretty helpful, but it isn't cheap either.

There are a couple of members that can help with a bootable disk with a version of the Land Cruiser repair manual. It is very helpful, but it is a little outdated. It should have the same information.
