OIL PAN REPLACEMENT (1 Viewer)

O.K., this is too much of a job for my Junior Tool Kit, so I'm taking it in to a reputable mechanic. What I'd like to know is 1) what the process involves, 2) "really important" things that shouldn't be overlooked, and 3) any handy tips I could pass along to the mech.

I am providing the oil pan and cork gasket.

Your input is greatly appreciated!

A few things...

Only use a one-piece OEM Toyota cork gasket.

A little black RTV silicone between the gasket and the pan at the 90 deg. corners where the half circles glue to the rest of the gasket wouldn't hurt.

Use some Felco Bond (sp?) to keep the gasket in place ~on the pan~ while you put it in place.

Have patience with those pesky bolts and DON'T cross-thread them!!! And lastly, don't tighten them down too much and split the gasket.

Really, you can do this yourself. It's only about a or job.

Easy job, but getting the pan off can be difficult. Use a bottle jack against the frame to push the pan off, but be careful about pushing it in .
