Not sure how many of you do your own oil changes, or have a different oil change schedule as your Toyota Dealer, but either way you know how anoying it is to have the "Oil Maintenance Required" warning showing on the screen. I now know how to get rid of it, and reset the system.
Step 1: from the ODO button above the left side of your steering wheel, you scroll to Trip#1.
Step 2: press and hold the ODO button to reset Trip #1, keep holding and shut the rig down
Step 3: without letting go, turn on car - but DO NOT ignite (foot off the brake pedal, and hit "Start" two times - and the system will start the reset. You can now let go of ODO button.
Step 4: it will go through reset and then say complete...Once it is complete, it will be ok to start the car.
I use AMSOil and run a K&N filter, so don't take it to the dealer for a change. All is done in the home garage. Real easy actually...the biggest pain is dropping $17 for the socket to the oil filter, and taking the front skid plate off and putting it on each time. Other than that, it is no different than any other car or truck. I was so happy to find out how to reset this, as I have had it in front of me for the past 2 oil changes...that and it switching to "Checking Tire Pressure"!
