I recently had my engine rebuilt due to low compression in several cylinders. The leak (more like a hemorrhage) comes from the top of the timing cover and is only visible when the engine is running and runs down the right side of the cover. I have yet to pinpoint the actual location it starts from, but due to the amount of oil that is leaking, is it possible oil from the oil nozzle is being brought to the top by the camshaft gear and out from what space is there at the top?
I haven't reached out to the machinist yet mainly because I don't have any confidence he will fix the issue in any timely manner. He took 2.5 years to complete the job and for the last year, I constantly heard how it should be done by the end of the week/month. I already have the gaskets and some FIPG. I have also seen the threads regarding the timing plate cover bolts and their lengths and placements. I have already found one bolt too long for its position, but the leak is appearing from above this bolt.
