Oil in spark plug wells

I had oil in my plug wells when I purchased my 200 about 3 years ago. PCV was clogged, FWIW. I replaced the tube seals, which appeared visibly dried out as I recall.

I haven't re-checked since the repair, but if I get the time and the inclination this weekend I'll pull a plug or two and take a look.
I pulled 2 spark plugs. One is bone dry and the other has a slight amount of oil. This is after 3 years and 15k miles from replacing the spark plug tube seals due to the presence of oil. I believe this gives some credence to the idea that the interface between spark plug tube and head is at least partly responsible.

Sounds like replacing the spark plug tube seals goes on the 100k miles the maintenance list.

Pulled up an old thread opposed to starting a new one on spark plugs.

Two things:

1. I put together some pictures to help others with quick removal of the #8 spark plug (Passenger side near firewall)

2. I had a little bit of oil in #2 and #8 (Passenger side), but definitely not a substantial amount

Plugs are from 2008 LX with 158,000 miles.

While it had impeccable Lexus service history every 5k miles, I didn't see a specific entry for spark plug change. They could have been done under the 90k, 120k, or another major service interval, but it isn't specifically called out in the Lexus service records.

did you also change the spark plug tube seals?

I did not change the spark plug tube seals.

Looking back at the pictures in this thread, the amount of oil I saw in tubes #2 and #8 was less than previous pictures posted. Each of my coil packs was bone dry as well; hence, given no record of plugs being changes and bone dry coil packs, I'm not too worried.

I'll pull the #2 and possibly #8 plug in 10k miles to check them again.

Call Lexus Dealership parts department. Give VIN# and ask for all parts used. Also call Toyota service mrg. They'll have records of spark plugs and all parts installed, with 95% accuracy.
