I don’t know how much you paid or your plans, but you’ll come to find people here think that rust will cause your vehicle to fail within a year or two. But it won’t. It will last a long time.
paid 6k and was gonna use it as a daily driver and occasional offroading, at least the engine and trans are pretty solid

Those of us north of the rust belt see that as business as usual. It’s the unfortunate side of winter up here but your not at a total loss scenario yet, at least in most northerners eyes. As most others have already stated, put some work into it and drive it into the ground, it’s manageable for sure.
yea gonna be a good time do learn how to do some structural repair work

Perforated frames aren't good regardless what part of the country you are in. It's why the NHTSA recalled Toyota frames on other vehicles. Toyota is notorious for poor frame corrosion protection.

Out west we call that a total loss 🤷‍♂️

Sorry for your misfortune!

So it was purchased sight unseen or no inspection or good ol' fashioned 'trust strangers'?
Northerner or not, if this was sold as any condition at or above "good" that's false advertising and at least in GA state regulation would be on the buyer's side. But a lot of unknowns here.
yea purchased in the evening, saw the body rust but didn't take a close enough look at the frame, came from Cali and never thought rust could be this bad

At the price you payed you well be fine.
Clean it up and some patch work, on the bright side no need to worry when wheeling

I'm just surprised how they can do a great job on maintaince but neglect the rust issue for so long
