The hood scoop ??? I knot really know, I guess it might look better without one?
It looks better with the hood scoop I think, since that means there is an intercooled turbo diesel V8 in there!

I'd like to see how much of a difference the new headlamps make, because the stock headlamps from the "old" front fascia suck, big time.
I replaced my stock old-style sealed headlamps with IPF inserts (reflectors/lenses) which accept H4 globes, and put 110/80 watt IPF globes in them, and they are pretty good now.

Only problem now is, since they are not sealed units like the original headlamps, they get water inside the reflectors/lenses on deep water crossings, then I have to take them off and clean the inside.

155kw anyone??? 430 Nm of torque???

Hello,

These numbers are close to the 1FZ-FE engine's figures. A lot of power and torque indeed. Uphill on H2 while everyone else is on H4, going around on H4 while the others deal with L4.

Quite likely the same thing with the V8. I bet it is unstoppable, yet not fuel hungry.

Strangely on the 200 series no bonnet (hood;)) scoop for the top mounted intercooler - I think there is some sort of under-hood ducting looking at my pictures, but when I drove it I was too exited to check! It was an African spec one which is detuned in order not to destroy the (manual) gearbox - still with "only" 219 hp it was sweet... Very nice torque. Unfortunately WWF didn't let me keep it long :p

Those new hoods if they dont have the V8 and teh scoop cut in, Just have a crappy looking HUMP in its place =(

That truck looks awesome, I agree that anyone hopping in one even if they don't initially like it would hyte thier pants at the way it would drive with the v8. Just think what yo could probably get out of that engine with some mods. Plastic and tin - meh, plastic bumper comes off for a steel one and so what if the hood is tin, its a fricking hood!

I'll get one when I get tired of my 2003.

so wat the view on the new dash and instrument setup?? i personally am anti it as much as im anti that front clip :D But hey beggers cant be choosers i guess, aslong as she can still get me from A to Z then im all :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:lol:
cheers

I wonder what it would take for Toyota to add another foot to the cab behind the seat so the seats could tilt back a little? I bet everyone would appreciate that.

Its rumored there will be a factory dual cab for 2010

If ALL Toyota models starting from AWD Celica, Supra to all Land Cruiser models (pick ups and wagons), Hilux etc ever enter the US market then that would be the demise for the Big 3 (Ford, GM and chrysler) No one competes with Toyota I mean NO ONE !

So in other words, I think we will never see all these great LC pick up here in the States. Forget about it. The CEOs of the big 3 are too sneaky, they push congress to impose many rules and regulations and higher taxes / tariffs for Toyota (being a foreign car maker) to bring their products to the states.

Is it fear of competition or is it inferiority syndrome...go figure!

The big three can't sell their cars freely in China or Japan. Only certain Ford, Chrysler, and GM models can be sold in Japan and with higher regulations and taxes.

I been told the front wheels take a wider stance than the rear wheels, so if you're bush-bashing through (say) savannah scrub here in the Territory you have to cut two lots of tracks.

your right but even the 78series like mine has the same thing but only 15mm diff

Can't sell the freely as in set up dealerships, but you can import them with less restrictions - if any.

You must be a giant or have no reclined a seat in the 79 series, even though they dont look to much bigger or longer cab you hope in both when they sit side by side and youd be suprised how much cab space they actually have , when i took my 79 away last winter with my girlfriend she fitted all her 10t of bags behine the seat

They have their air intake at the front of the bonnet as in the 2nd pic near the latch hole then air goes throught the tiny gap between the two bonnet skins and into the cooler

i hear heaps of jelous pootrol owners going the cruisers are snot because of the rear diff being so smaller width compared to the front track yet the GU pootrols with the ff and leaf rear have a way closer rear track than front aswell

I'm 6 foot one and I have to move the seat forward, tons of leg room in an HZJ79 - but the hzj75 would be too tight.

But that's because there is not enough demand for the big 3 products. Also you have to remember in asian countries the streets / roads are much narrower and shorter so I don't see why people would want to drive a full size chevy suburban or Ford F-150 or Dodge Ram. Not to mention the consumption of fuel on those full size american trucks they are gas guzzlers. But on top of all, I think it goes back to image of the product itself. Jap cars are much more reliable than those of americans or europeans and people know this for a fact. Also much more affordable on average. So consumers would want to settle with them. By the way in case you didn't know, the price of Japanese cars are more expensive INSIDE Japan than outside Japan. This is how the jap government regulate their auto market. Don't ask me why it's just is. I learned this in my Asian Studies class. So even if american trucks are taxed high in Japan they are still cheaper than the Japanese ones.

If you check the Toyota Jap website you'll find out the Supra is still in production. Yes you can still buy a brand new supra in Japan and I am assuming its surrounding asian countries. I mean come on, the last supra sold in the US market was from way back in the 80's (or early 90's maybe?) Jesus...am I asking too much here if I want a brand new Supra? What about the AWD Celica the Celica GT4 ? They are pretty much non existent here in the US. Every body drive subarus up here instead. Very common cars up here in the northern part of the US especially in a college town where I live in. All students drive subarus. Yup subaru is a college student car. Don't get me wrong though, subaru is a nice car but I'd like to see a Celica GT4 All Wheel Drive driven on the streets for a change. That would be a total head-turner. Celica GT4 winner of the East African Rallye driven by Carlos Sainz like the one here:

Now that's what I call my dream car.
