Boys done commenced workin' at the crack of noon on Friday and made good progress. Got the uprights welded up against the existin' shop as well as the the other vertical posts. The short ones in the middle will have a major friggin' beam goin' 'cross 'em for the floor of my loft that will go over to the horizontal beam shown on the right. Be 10' x 30' of extra floor space.

Started a bit earlier on Saturday ... just to figure out the beam for the truss against the existin' shop didn't get delivered and Greg forgot to bring all the sawhorses/screw-jacks to fabricate the other truss on the new wall. :frown:

So ever'body went home

..... until Monday mornin'. :crybaby: :crybaby:

So ......

on Monday mornin', the Boys hit 'er again. Fabbed up the truss for the new wall and welded the plates to mount the purlins on. Done deal. Set 'er against the fence to clear the way for makin' the next one.

Missin' beam got delivered and we built the one for next to the old wall. :D

Went to hang it .... and realized right quick that we built the trusses on a 2" pitch .... but the existin' shop is a 2.5" . Whoops!!

So ever'body went home.

Greg came back alone Tuesday mornin' since the rest of the Boys was off at work. Took us the better part of the day but we got both trusses fixed and ready to go. :D

We got the truss hung and welded in place .... friggin' perfect. :bounce: :bounce2:

All the tabs are for hangin' the purlin deals. Lot cleaner design than the existin' shop which has the purlins settin' on top of prefabbed trusses. What you see is what you get .... no bottom beam ... freespan 'cross the new 24' shop section. :grinpimp:

We trimmed the existing wall just enough to clear the new uprights and truss.

When the new shop is all done .... just tear down the existin' wall .... so the shop's never open to the elements during construction.

The second truss for the new wall is also all done. :D

Greg says it's downhill from here and he's hopin' to have 'er done by the time I get back home in three weeks.

That is gonna be one Helluva shop there. :D

cowboy, your real lucky that ya'll quit early on saturday. I was told by greg to come and keep you busy so you wouldn't be in the way. And boy did I have a plan, but I guess it don't matter now. When you be back in.

Be flyin' in May 03.

Come on over .... I've been showin' Chico your picture as I hit 'im in the head with a friggin' 2 X 4 ... heard that's the way to train 'im to attack. :grinpimp:

:flamingo:

Well ... it weren't done when I got home but the Boys put in a helluva show while I was off workin' for three weeks. They gotta work too so this is just a weekend gig for 'em.

This is what it looked like Wednesday when I got home. The skeleton was completely done. It's now 30' x 54' with a 20' awning down the whole front. :grinpimp:

A fella can make out the 10' x 10' door on the left for a third bay and a 7' x 6' door on the right under the loft to pull in the new ridin' mower and the super-pimpin' big-ass charcoal grill, etc., etc. ... :D

Also a close up of the loft area ... 300 square feet of bonus floor space. :grinpimp:

We carefully measured the location of the stairs so my street rod will fit under the loft and behind the stairs to open up the three bays for the Big Ol' Dodge, my single vehicle trailer, and the Cruiser.

The Boys showed up Friday and we got new metal across the front of the old shop so the colors will exactly match. Notice no more stove pipe. Gonna buy a new stove and put 'er in the back of the bay on the left so the new stove pipe will exit out the back of the shop for a cleaner appearance.

Got half the back wall done also. Hangin' the insulation is a major pain-in-the-ass.

Saturday ... we got the back wall done and the front wall done before we had to go to Josh and Chinah's weddin' (which was a damn nice affair by the way  ) Didn't get no pics. :frown:

Sunday was the big push ....

Got the end wall done ... and the whole roof and awnin' done to boot!!

There was 6 of us workin' and we was some whooped puppies at the end of the day. Didn't get no pics. :frown: :frown:

Monday ... we started workin' on the trim. Didn't have all the parts and pieces so it was a purdy short day while Greg went and fetched 'em. Did get most of the deckin' down on the loft though.

So here's what it looked like yesterday evenin'. :bounce:  :bounce:

Had to jump on an aero-plane this mornin' to come back to NC to go to work.

Talked to Momma when I landed and she said the door people came today and installed both doors. The big one is on an electric opener deal like the original two and the little one's a roll-up thang.

Boys got the deck done on the loft and put up a handrail on the outside edge.

Got all the trim pieces up and tore down the old shop wall to open it all up on the inside.

In other words .... the fawkers done !!

:bounce: :bounce2:  :grinpimp:  :bounce2: :bounce:
