Truck cargo box (and only the box!) for sale, trade, or whatever
I am in the process of transforming an older Mercedes fire/rescue truck into an overland camper. The body that is currently on the truck will have to go. If you are interested, I am open to offers and suggestions. I would rather find it a good home, I am not looking to make a ton of bucks, and I am prepared to reuse parts and recycle the rest. The truck is running and registered, so dropping the box off somewhere isn't completely out of the question.
The box looks a lot like the battery or water delivery truck bodies (a lot of people I spoke to referred to them as Mickey bodies). It is 16’ long x 8'2” wide x 5’ tall, steel frame, aluminum diamond-plate roof. It has a 12” or so front extension that sits 9” higher (basically to clear the engine in the current truck). The box is set up for the standard 34" NA heavy truck frame rail spacing. There are three full height weather-proof aluminum rollup doors per side, and one in the back.
The inside is configured for drawers, but the drawers no longer exist. Can come with 24V lights, and a 20KW inverter, if you are so inclined. The inverter (obviously a 50Hz unit) is fed by a PTO-driven generator.
Here are a couple of random pictures. If someone is interested, I can certainly take more specific ones.
