On Wednesday, June 29 at 10am, Tepui Tents will officially launch our Kickstarter campaign for project “White Lightning,” our first hard shell tent ever, which we previewed at Overland Expo last month. The excitement has been crazy with everyone asking how to get one. This is it! ...at least for now. People were blown away, walking up and giving us credit card numbers, trying to get on a wait list. Be one of the first to purchase this innovative and revolutionary hard shell roof top tent.
.
It features a “best in class” super low profile of 8 inches, the first Rack ReadyTM design so you can bring your bikes, kayak or SUP and…we’re proud to say it is Made in the USA! We designed and built this innovative new hard shell tent, and with your support, we can finish out the industrial production molds and you can secure your brand new White Lightning RTT by Tepui.
.
And you are going to want to know this!! As part of the Kickstarter, we are offering just 15 White Lighting Tents at a special Early Bird price level! There are quite a few ways to support, but act quickly, as we have already received a lot of interest and know these Early Bird models are sure to be scooped up fast! Check out the Kickstarter for details on the specially priced models, and other support levels.

Do you have any idea what the weight is? If its significantly less than my autuna ruggedized I'll be pretty happy. That thing is a lead brick and definitely effect how my truck handles

I don't know the final weight but I'd expect it will be less than an Autana Ruggedized by quite a bit.
One more question. Do you know if it will be possible to attach the ladder to the side of the tent as well? I am building out my 80 and am planning on putting a 4x4 labs bumper on it this summer. If its only attachable to the back, I imagine the stock ladder would get in the way of the swing outs and I would need to get the swing out ladder.

Here are some updates, with some answers to some questions that have come up.
.
These will be available on the Tepui website for pre-orders after the kickstarter campaign ends, probably mid-to-late July. The MSRP will be around $3800 but there is likely to be a pre-order discount although not as good as kickstarter. The kickstarter campaign is a great opportunity to get one of these for ~$1000 off MSRP!
.
The side rails are 54" center to center.
Load Capacity: Max 150lbs, but Tepui does not recommend more than 60lbs unless suspension and vehicle/rack are adequate.
Tent Weight: 150 lbs
Tent Canopy is 70D ripstop waterproof nylon
Shipping: $300 added to kickstarter pledge amount
Shipping from Hood River, OR so local pickups will likely not be available
.
After they become available on the website, there will likely be some customization options such as vinyl wraps, solar panels, and operable skylights.
.
Note: Made in the USA, Lowest profile hardshell on the market, interchangeable struts, rack-ready integrated side rails.

Never been a fan of RTT...my tent weighs 6 lbs, cost $40, and is 1 cubic foot stored in the back. I must admit...this tent is really giving me second thoughts...looks GREAT!

Being a climber I used to drive till 2am to Yosemite and then would crash our in my tent or bouldering pad in some terrible spot, then have to get up in a few hours and climb all day. Needles to say I never got any real sleep and the next day was brutal. Sleeping in something close to a real bed is priceless when your getting after it the next day. The other benefit is my wife is much more likely to come along.
