I have a pair of amby doors off a 78-ish 40. They are in pretty good condition - only one or two quarter-sized rust holes in either of them. What are they worth as-is and what are they worth if I strip them down, fix the holes (properly), and prime them? I don't think I'll use them.

Also - I upgraded my '71 from the 3 speed to a 4 speed (forget the model # of the tranny but it's from a 78 I think) - I had to move the t-case hump on the floor back about 10" and need different driveshafts - anyone have complete d-shafts for a '78 40? I have the lengths at home that I'm looking for.

Mike, I do not have a front shaft but will measure the rear and report back. The pic Jason posted is the shaft I'm talking about so you already noticed it's a DC shaft. Not sure if that matters to you. Let me know.

Update: Stumpy is 20.0" fully compressed and 23.0" extended (It will extend more but not without risking the slip yoke coming apart). Because of the DC this is a very limited slip yoke and not intended for any significant amount of flex. If you're planning for off road excursions this is not the shaft for you. I ran it on road only for a couple years before going to a more HD shaft. I put the DC in to keep my vibration down.

Last thing to check is your flange bolt pattern. This is the "post '74" rectangular 60mm x 68mm bolt pattern on both ends.

Not done talking yet since random thoughts keep coming up ..... Did you change to a 4 speed AND change the TC or did you keep the 3 speed transfer case? I'm assuming you also did not change the flange on the rear diff.

Those issues may lead to you having a mixed bolt pattern between the from and rear. Post up what you have.
