For Sale: 1985 BJ70.
Getting ready for Afghanistan and am continuing to trim the herd. So, this one is going along with the 4BTA 80
So, a 1985 BJ70.
3B, H55F, 4:11 gears.
It's silver with the grey interior. Interior is in pretty good shape, front and bench seats have no rips or tears, and carpeting is a little dirty, but all there and in decant shape. I also have a set of grey SOR Tuff Duck covers for the front seats to help preserve them.
Body is in decent shape, rust was poking thru in a few places, but I've fixed and sealed most of the problem rust areas on the body, and am working on the frame. Frame has rust, but it was coated with some kind of underbody sealant which protected it from any serious rot, mostly surface rust. Some of the body fixes aren't pretty, but functional. Line-x on the fender areas for a little added protection.
About 290kms on the clock. Was legally imported and the import tag is on the driver's side door. Engine is strong, no leaks that I have seen yet. And it' a BJ70, so you won't be winning any races with it. The 5-speed does roll pretty nice. A little smoke if it has been sitting a while, and it stumbles a bit on really cold days until it warms up. Tranny is fine, drive gears and transfer case shift smooth and easy.
All new front brakes and lines, seals, bearings and grease, the rears are fine, but will have to be done at some point, but included will be new drums, cylinders, rigid lines, SOR rebuild kit and some used backing plates. I just am too busy these days to do it.
It has a Cruisin' Offroad rear bumper/tire carrier and sliders, old non-winch ARB bumper that will go back on once I finish on the frame work. Cragar rims on Goodyear MTs that are pretty new. OME suspension, springs, shocks, shackles, etc, everything except the steering damper. It has a little "cruiser lean" but it isn't too bad, gives the truck character.
I also have a new set of TREs that I haven't installed yet. I also have a new fuel filter and assembly and injector pump diaphragm also. I also have an OEM snorkel and airbox that I haven't gotten around to installing yet either. I also have a new water pump and all new radiator hoses. Except for the brakes, most of the parts are spares for the future.
Everything electrical works, lights, gauges, switches. Only thing that doesn't work is the heat and the defroster on one of the back windows. With the heat, the blower and everything works, it just doesn't blow warm air. The heat might just be a clogged radiator in the heater box inside the truck. CDN spec, so no A/C. The EDIC has been removed and replaced with a cable actuating system, so that's one thing that won't fail. I think I still have the EDIC motor, relay and rods.
I'll have pics posted Tuesday or Wednesday.
