I have been thinking about selling a Prius and buying this:

2003 Toyota Matrix XR AWD 4dr Wagon In Fuquay-Varina NC - Legacy Auto Sales

And then this comes up!!

We loved Andrea's Matrix.... it is still her favorite car she owned. The 2nd gen was terrible, the first gen is so much better. We may sell the TDI after it gets fixed and buy another first gen matrix and then put the rest of the money from the jetta into the cruiser we are going to buy sometime this year.

Thanks, Al. That is basically what I am thinking, only with the Prius vs a TDI VW :)

Edit: BTW, you are probably to blame for me looking at everything from a GT4 to a Supra MKIV for $40K, to even STIs. So it is important to note that this Matrix is a AWD!

I really would prefer the V6 AWD Rav4, but, I am addicted to lower costs and gas mileage more than "speed" obviously - not sure the Matrix is an improvement in either category, but it is about 18K cheaper than the Prius, too.

Another option for my low budget rally to work car: 2009 TOYOTA RAV4 LIMITED VERY CLEAN

I'm looking for a spare 315 as well, if we can find a decent set on Craigslist I'll split it with you.

I found two available here in Raleigh.
From the CL ad:
FYI #2 have great pair of 315/75/16 Pro comp in exellent condition indeed for $120 both

They appear to be older Pro Comp Mud Terrains. He sent me pics and they don't look half bad. He offered the pair for $150 including installation of the spare on my wheel. I might counter with $130 with one tire installed and I'll just pick up the other one. If he doesn't agree, $60 for a spare still isn't a bad deal. Let me know if you are interested.

I'm going on the trip to Hurricane next week and I didn't want to go without a spare, so I ended up pulling the trigger on a new K02 about a week ago.

Buy the AWD matrix... swap in the 2ZZ from the XRS 180HP .... then do some mods and you have a pretty cool rally bomber

There are tons of 2zz's for sale on car-part.com
