although i'm a MKII mr2 guy I still think that is kinda cool
True range isn't that far but he is using crappy batteries to do it.... should be easy to upgrade..... also i've seen some home electric car guys adapt the parts from junked Prius's to capture inertial energy adding to it.
I'd much rather drive this than a leaf

It is a few things ...
1) this is the light duty version of the 70 series 4 door. The HZJ77 which is the HD version is much more desirable.
2) the 2LT-E engine is had reliability issues. It is up to par from a US truck engine standard, but is not up to the Land Cruiser reputation for reliability. The 2LT is a good engine. When they went to the E variant, head cracking issues came up. A 2.4L engine is working hard in a 4door 70 even if it is a LD version
