Packing today, leaving tomorrow. Can't wait.

Pablo-see you at Buck Sunday evening, be there or be square.

Weather forecast looks nice. Cool evenings maybe high 30's low 4O's. Days mid 70's. Pollock Pine's gas, $4.09 reg. $4.29 prem.

Have fun!! Wish I was going again this year. Maybe I can get my dad to parachute in for rock chef!

CJ-you could still make it. You're running out of time, though.

If you left tomorrow, Loon Lake by Tuesday evening is realistic.

Got word today that the repeater on the trail is having some issues. To rectify, hold the PTT for a second or two before you begin talking.

The damaged equipmet has been repaired, but don't know for sure if the repaired equipment will be installed before we all head it and they may still be using the back up equipment.

I am headed in tomorrow afternoon, so if you need to sign up, do so and pay in the Springs. Please do not make any more payments via PayPal! You can try my cell before 2pm, but no promises :)

As a heads up, we will only be accepting cash and checks in the Springs. With all the credit card issues out there, I don't want anyones info!

Safe travels and we will see you in a few days!

Eric

Wishing all you folks a great time with lots of fun, minor damage and experiences that last for a lifetime!

( Would you please give a high five to the spotter at the cadillac hill corner from the german guy. ) ;):poof:

And I'm out of here! See you on the trail. Safe travels everyone!

Advice & help needed!
Drove 3500 miles from Florida only to break down near Placerville. Clutch disc or pressure plate is broke.
I need to know if there is a Cruiser friendly mechanic in Placerville that can do a clutch job ASAP. Auto parts stores in area too.

I"m capable of doing a clutch job, but it's more than I can handle on the roadside.

We have AAA with 100 mile towing, so the vehicle can be towed to a shop. I drove it 40 miles w/o a clutch, so I imagine it can be driven to a shop.

My wife and I checked in for the night at Gold Country Inn in Placerville.

Any advice or recommendations I can be reached at seven-two-seven-215-4214

We are signed up for Wed wagon run, but can see it will be a challenge to make it.

Which CA club has members that would be familiar with the Placerville area, so I can put a post in the proper clubhouse area.

Thanks!

Steve

I believe (already!) we found someone here in Placerville to help us out with the clutch tomorrow.

Thanks for the calls and advice!!

Get'n on the road now! See ya there!

I believe (already!) we found someone here in Placerville to help us out with the clutch tomorrow.

Any updates on that ?

Within 1 hr of making it known we were broke at 9PM on a Monday night, we had two offers of repair shops willing to take on work without notice and an offer of a driveway and a transmission jack. The Cruiser community is the greatest!
The clutch was toast. The clutch disc came apart w/o warning. Thanks to Steve Wardens Auto Repair near Placerville that put our job ahead of others, it allowed us to make it to the trail.

We caught allot of good breaks on this trip as to where we broke down, the people we met, and help getting off the trail. Fortunately we weren't very far into the run.

Unfortunately we didn't catch any breaks on the frequency and amount of breakdowns.

After breaking a rear locker on the trail and an attempt to make a Rubicon Lincoln Locker out of it failed, I slapped t he spare open third member in to get us on the road.

Our intentions were to drive down to the springs from the Tahoe end for Fri/Sat, but now it doesn't appear that's going to happen. As small and trivial as it seems, a cracked steering reservoir which trumps getting a locker in will prevent us from making the event.

It was great meeting everyone we met, and we met some truly nice people.

Oh boy........you should get the bad luck award if there is one. :worms::(

He did get the hard luck and iron butt award!

He did get the hard luck and iron but award!

Great!
HE deserved both but may have been satisfied with one of them.

Hope he makes it home without any more trouble. :steer:

PICS PLEASE!!! :deadhorse:

Another epic Rubithon!!! Eric and the rest of the crew did a fantastic job of organizing everything and the Stainer twins and their cook crew kept us well fed. Oh yes, the wine tasting benefit for Rubicon Trail Foundation was really super too. So put #26 in the record books as an absolutely awesome TLCA event.

These might be some of the first pics posted but that’s only because I didn’t have too long of a drive home. I wish I took more but there’s always next year…Anyways, this was my first Rubithon (first time on the Rubicon too) and it was an absolute blast. It couldn’t have been any better. The whole thing was very well organized, with plenty of great food, great people, and just all around good times. The crew that was in charge of our run did a great job of getting everyone through with minimal problems. Special thanks to all the guys that spent most of their time on the trail spotting for us. It was also really cool to finally meet some of the people who I had only known from here on ‘MUD. New friendships were definitely made and a few future wheeling trips are already in the works.

Cruiser packed and ready to go on Weds night. Plan was to drive from Reno to Strawberry Lodge off of highway 50, then wake up for a short drive to icehouse to meet the group on Thursday morning.

100 yards into the start of the "gatekeeper" section.

Now onto the granite slabs. Some of these pics don't really show how steep/sideways things were but this sure felt steep!

Getting to use the new rear bumper for the first time. Thanks to those who told me one was necessary....it pretty much was!

Everyone up on the slabs now.

One of our trail leaders taking a "more challenging" line. Sean and his crew were awesome.
