Are lockers a must?? I have open diffs and I want to be a part of such a great event! Hoping that i could get at least rear lockers by that time if it's a must. need to save some $$$ for that...

Please do not come on the wagon run without at least a rear locker. I have no interest in dragging a truck over every rock because they don't have a locker. Similarly 31 inch tires. I mean, this is the Rubicon, the superbowl of organized runs. If you're prepared, it's great, it's not that hard, if you aren't, you will make every one else miserable. Remember, there are 25 other people counting on you doing well.

It's one thing to have a mechanical on the trail and need assistance after that. This is expected. But to show up unprepared is unforgivable.

I was trying to think of a more 'sensitive' or PC way of saying what Cruiserdrew said regarding being prepared, but in general terms, for all of the runs. But this will do - to the point. ;)

No offense taken... :D That is the reason for this great forum... getting informed..

That is why I also mentioned that at least I should have a rear locker by that time. I'm pretty close to getting one. Been working some OT's at work and that should suffice...

Thanks. Anyone that is a regular on the Rubicon, Fordyce or any of the equally difficult trails knows that it enhances everyone's enjoyment when the rigs on the trail are up to the task and meet the minimum requirements for the event.

Hope to see you there.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, just being direct. We had 27 trucks last year and had a blast. But if just one person had been truly unprepared mechanically, it would have been a very long 2 days for all concerned.

It's very different when you are running with just one or two understanding friends, than when you have a large group who are not all as understanding as your buds.

Looking forward to Rubithon. It isn't looking like a snow delay is going to be an issue.

Agreed. I would rather seek advices now than pee in my pants on the trail ... :crybaby:

I am still a rookie but I wouldn't want to be the guy that spoiled the excitement /fun because of unpreparedness anyways... :D

I am looking forward to joining this event and meeting well experienced enthusiasts....

Far from normal, that one...

:flipoff2:

But seriously. I got through because I was willing to take a few dings and dents.

I would never have made it without the spotting, direction and patience from others in the group.

I had a blast and a big thumbs up to to Eric and his band of helpers for organizing this event. I think it is a must do for all TLCA members.

Hay Ross, Do you have all your mechanical issues secured this year? Are you bringing the FJC or the 40? My committee is looking forward to another 'no workie' Rubithon.
Yep. New diff installed on the FJ Cruiser by Toyota (50% covered by Toyota out of warranty)

Georg put in a 2F out of an FJ60, replaced the power steering mount and pump, and threw in PS cooler.

Both will go again, my daughter will drive the 40. It's running great.

Fellas? I think with your rig outfitted as it is you'll be able to tow that trailer through. IMO, it might be more fun without it, but :meh:.

Ron was good to you I guess.

Hey Skillet, my wife doesn't know the meaning of 'pack light' and we still fit everything in the 40. That said, I've always wanted to include the kitchen sink with the rest of the gear.

If nothing else it will be an interesting experience for you. Which "run" are you planning to go on?????
